  • Patent number: 4481931
Abstract: The fuel system of a diesel powered vehicle is kept free of wax blockages during cold weather by a mixing unit which is submerged in the fuel tank and furnishes to the fuel pump a waxing resistant supply stream comprising a warm fraction derived from the excess fuel by-passed by the engine injectors and a cold fraction derived from the stored fuel in the tank. The unit delivers to the pump a controlled portion of the excess fuel whose size depends upon the rate of flow, so that the supply stream contains substantially all of the excess fuel when the engine is operating at full throttle, but contains only a selected fraction of the excess fuel when the engine is idling. The balance of the excess fuel available at idle is discharged into the tank. The mixer requires no thermostatic element or other moving parts, can be installed without structural modification of the tank, and keeps the system free of wax blockages without overheating the fuel oil.

  • Patent number: 4266485
Abstract: A system for controlling tractive effort in diesel electric locomotives when train hauling requirements are such that multiple locomotives are required. Equipment and method of operation disclosed provides individual control of lead and trailing units, utilizing relatively simple, reliable and inexpensive equipment which operates in conjunction with existing train controls. Operation of multiple locomotive trains at reduced horsepower settings per trailing loads will provide maximum fuel economy for varying track conditions.

  • Patent number: 4228741
Abstract: A stabilizer for providing railway car wheel-truck anti-hunting stabilization with automatic stabilizer releasing at rail curves. This stabilizer comprises first and second anchors attachable respectively to the car body and truck, the stabilizer having an intermediate section having a movement preventing module preventing destructive truck hunting movement of the anchors with respect to each other in at least one direction during straight track travel, but permitting the anchors to freely move with respect to each other when the truck reaches a section of curved track.

  • Patent number: 4095548
Abstract: A device for docking and mooring a boat including an elongate member having a series of convolutions formed therein to provide a continuous convoluted surface. When a throwline having an enlarged end portion is engaged with the convoluted surface, contact will be maintained therebetween so long as tension is maintained no matter what directional changes are made between the line and the surface. Several embodiments are disclosed ranging from catching devices alone to such devices which may be released from a remote location.

  • Patent number: 4082054
Abstract: A device for docking and mooring a boat including a line secured on one end to the boat, a connector secured to the other end of the line, and a guide unit disposed proximate the docking area having a trap for engaging the connector. A method for docking and moving a boat utilizing the above device wherein a boat under powered control approaches the guide unit, the guide unit is engaged by the connector and under continued power the boat is caused to swing in an arc about the guide unit as it moves into its docking area.
