Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for reading off the position of the gear lever in a gear selector in a vehicle, in which a sensor arrangement includes a first sensor component and a plurality of second sensor components that can interact with the first sensor component to detect the position of the first sensor component. The first sensor component is arranged to move with the gear lever to read off the position of the first sensor component in relation to the plurality of second sensor components, where the first sensor component can cover at least two of the second sensor components. Further, a detected position of the first sensor component can be relayed to a control device, which is configured to evaluate the presence of faults in the device.

Abstract: An arrangement for controlling gear positions in a car includes a console having a wall, and one or more sensors arranged in connection to the console wall. The arrangement additionally includes a gear lever and a code device constructed to interact with the one or more sensors. The code device is connected to the gear lever so that the code device moves upon motion of the gear lever. The code device is pivotably secured adjacent to the gear lever, and the arrangement can bias the code device in a direction toward the console wall. The arrangement can further include an arm by which the code device is pivotably secured in the gear lever.

The code device (230) is pivotably secured adjacent to the gear lever (210) and the arrangement further comprises means (240) for biasing the code device (230) in the direction of the said console wall (140). Expediently, the arrangement further comprises an arm (220) by which the code device (230) is pivotably secured in the gear lever (210).
