Patent number: 8576053Abstract: Near field communication (NFC) device including a processor and a front end unit (FEU) to communicate with an external reader/writer device. The FEU stores, by first memory, a first number of sets of application parameters, each set including first and second identifiers. The processor stores, by second memory, the application and a second number of the sets. The FEU receives a communication request from the external device, including a certain first identifier. The FEU checks, when the request is received, whether the certain first identifier is stored in the first memory. If yes, a response is sent to the external device, including a respective second identifier, which is in the same set of parameters as the certain first identifier. The FEU sends, each time a request is received, a response to the processor. The processor controls which sets of parameters are stored in the first memory based on the response.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2011Date of Patent: November 5, 2013Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Meik Buscemi, Stephen Tiedemann, Frank Dawidowsky, Klaus Röhrle, Dietmar Schill

Patent number: 8539082Abstract: In an ad-hoc established device network, a profile based handover of the network control functionality is performed whenever a new device requests association with the network and the central controller does not support the profile of the new device. A database is searched for a controller-capable device that supports both the profiles of the network devices and the profile of the new device. The former central controller passes the control functionality to the controller-capable device, which becomes the new central controller. Thus it is possible to associate the new device with the net work. The invention allows to integrate devices supporting different profiles into a common network.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2007Date of Patent: September 17, 2013Assignee: Sony Deutschland GmbHInventors: Frank Dawidowsky, Lothar Stadelmeier

Patent number: 8411649Abstract: A first wireless ad hoc network with a certain available amount of bandwidth comprises a plurality of wireless terminals communicating via wireless connections with each other. Each wireless connection requires a certain amount of the available amount of bandwidth. A problem occurs, if a wireless terminal wants to set up a new wireless connection requiring bandwidth or requires more bandwidth for an existing wireless connection and the required amount of bandwidth exceeds the left amount of the available amount of bandwidth of the first wireless ad hoc network. In a state of the art wireless ad hoc network the requested bandwidth cannot be provided and a user application may not be possible. According to the invention, however, the required amount of bandwidth can be provided by splitting the first wireless ad hoc network such that a second wireless ad hoc network is spawned which operates in a different communication channel and thus provides additional bandwidth.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2003Date of Patent: April 2, 2013Assignee: Sony Deutschland GmbHInventors: Lothar Stadelmeier, Frank Dawidowsky, Jens Hoefflinger

Patent number: 7499429Abstract: In order to optimize data traffic in an ad-hoc established device network, the data traffic is monitored in order to determine which amount of the data traffic to and from a specific device is reflected by the central controller. Reflected data streams should be avoided because they increase the load of the network. If more than a predefined amount of said data traffic is reflected by the central controller, and if the specific device is a controller-capable device, a handover of the control functionality is performed in order to establish said specific terminal device as the new central controller. Thus, reflected data streams are reduced.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2002Date of Patent: March 3, 2009Assignee: Sony Deutschland GmbHInventors: Frank Dawidowsky, Lothar Stadelmeier
