  • Publication number: 20120283987
Abstract: A method of measuring the distance uses a terminal A and a terminal B, each terminal comprising an FMCW generator for generating a signal having a predetermined frequency to time function. Terminal A transmits a transmit signal in transmit periods, which alternate with mute periods without transmission. Terminal B shifts the received signal in time from a transmit period to a mute period, for example by generating a local periodic FMCW signal, determining an adaptation of the timing of that local periodic FMCW that is needed to bring it into a predetermined timing relation to the received signal and applying the adaptation in the mute period. Terminal B transmits the shifted signal, which is received by the receiver of terminal A.

  • Publication number: 20110127470
Abstract: In a method for treating alternative, carbon-containing, low-caloric waste materials for use in furnace systems, in particular rotary tubular kilns for the production of clinker, the carbon-containing, alternative fuels are subjected to high-temperature gasification under anoxic conditions at temperatures above 1000° C., wherein water, water vapor or CO2 is injected to ensure a reaction forming CO and H2. The waste heat from a clinker cooler is used for the high-temperature gasification.

  • Patent number: 7172654
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of phase equilibria as shown in the phase diagram of Cu—In—Se for the preparation of solid compositions. Further, a new method for directly obtaining ? CulnSe2 from a liquid phase, preferably as a single phase composition and novel single phase ? CulnSe2 compositions are provided.

  • Publication number: 20060289088
Abstract: A method for surface treating a titanium gas turbine engine component. The method includes providing a gas turbine engine component having a titanium-containing surface. The component is heated to a temperature sufficient to diffuse carbon into the titanium and below 1,000° F. The surface is contacted with a carbon-containing gas to diffuse carbon into the surface to form carbides. Thereafter, the carbide-containing surface is coated with a lubricant comprising a binder and a friction modifier. The binder preferably including titanium oxide and the friction modifier preferably including tungsten disulfide. The coefficient of friction between the surface and another titanium-containing surface is less than about 0.6 in high altitude atmospheres.

  • Publication number: 20060048862
Abstract: The present invention relates to surface hardening of a metal surface of a work piece formed of titanium and titanium alloys. The method comprises the steps of heating the work piece; exposing the metal surface to a nitrogen gas having a partial pressure lower than about 10?2 Pa; and maintaining the work piece in the nitrogen gas so that nitrogen is absorbed onto the surface of the work piece and diffused into the work piece for a desired distance while preventing the formation of nitrides on the surface of the work piece and within the work piece.

  • Patent number: 6777067
Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-layer, sealable biaxially oriented polypropylene film consisting of a base layer and at least one sealable covering layer. The base layer contains between 1 and 15 weight % of a resin with a mean molecular weight Mw of between 600 and 1,500 and between 1 and 6 weight % of a wax with a mean molecular weight Mn of between 200 and 700. The n-heptane insoluble part of the polypropylene of the base layer has a chain isotactic index of at least 95%, as measured by 13C-NMR spectroscopy. The invention also relates to a method for producing said film and to its use.

  • Patent number: 5914079
Abstract: In the treatment of a sealable film surface by means of a flame, a film is passed over a cooling roll (4). A burner (1) is mounted above this cooling roll (4). An unpolarized flame is produced by means of this burner (1). The film is cooled by means of the cooling roll (4) and, if required, by means of additional cooling apparatuses so that the temperature of the flame-treated film surface on leaving the cooling roll (4) is not more than 25.degree.
