  • Patent number: 5440946
Abstract: A flexible motion transmitting remote control assembly (10) for high load force transmission over long distance includes a motion transmitting core element (20) slidably disposed within a tubular casing (12). A roller assembly (24) along with upper (32) and lower (32') races position the core element (20) within the casing (12) for minimizing sliding friction. The upper (32) and lower (32') races each have a shoulder (42') at one end for retaining that end of the race in a fixed position within the casing (12). The opposite end of the upper (32) and lower (32') races are each provided with a post (52, 52') which protrude through respective axially extending slots (66, 66') in the casing (12). As the casing (12) is routed during installation to form curved sections between its two ends, the respective posts (52, 52') on the upper (32) and lower (32') races are displaced axially within their slots (66, 66') through the casing (12).

  • Patent number: 5239890
Abstract: A motion transmitting remote control cable assembly (10) of the type for transmitting motion in a curved path includes a conduit (12) and a core element (16) slideably disposed therein. The core element includes a plurality of long lay wires (24) wound in helical fashion and a single strand (18) wrapped helically around the plurality of wires to define a helical crest surface (20) for contacting the conduit. The assembly is characterized by including a teflon liner (22) which is shrunk fit over the core element (16) for reducing friction between the core element and the conduit (12).

  • Patent number: 5105678
Abstract: A motion transmitting remote control cable assembly (10) of the type for transmitting motion in a curved path comprises a first casing (12), first (14) and second (16) terminal blocks and a first core element (18) extending through the first casing (12) between the first and second terminal blocks (14,16). The assembly also includes a second casing (20) and a second core element (22) extending through the second casing (20) and between the first and second terminal blocks (14,16). The assembly (10) is characterized by means (24) for placing one of the core elements (18,22) in tension and placing the other core element (18,22) in compression while the one remains in tension for reducing backlash in the trnasmission of forces between the first and second terminal blocks (14,16).
