  • Patent number: 4281050
Abstract: A migration imaging system including imaging members comprising a substrate overcoated with a softenable layer, and migration marking material, with the softenable layer having a thin surface skin of material having a higher viscosity than the remainder of the softenable material layer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 29, 1970
Date of Patent: July 28, 1981
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation

  • Patent number: 4135926
Abstract: A migration layer comprising migration material and softenable material, said migration layer having a set electrical latent image. The process of setting the electrical latent image comprises providing an imaging member comprising the above migration layer, electrically latently imaging the migration layer and setting the electrical latent image by either storing the migration layer in the dark or applying heat, applying vapor, or applying partial solvents in a pre-development softening step. After setting of the electrical latent image, the migration layer can be exposed to activating electromagnetic radiation without loss of the latent image and permitted long delays of up to years between formation of the electrical latent image and the development step which allow selective migration in depth.

  • Patent number: 4055418
Abstract: An imaging method is disclosed comprising providing an imaging member comprising a first layer of softenable material containing migration material overlying a second layer of softenable material which is substantially free of migration material wherein at least one of the layers of softenable material contains a surface skin located at the interface between the layer of softenable material. This member is latently imaged and developed by softening whereby the migration material migrates through the first layer of softenable material and the interface, where the surface skin is located, and in depth in the second layer of softenable material thereby forming an imaged member. Background of the migration material is then removed from the imaged member by splitting the member at the interface thereby obtaining an image with excellent imaging properties.

Date of Patent: October 25, 1977

  • Patent number: 3970453
Abstract: An imaging method comprising providing a member comprising a first layer of softenable material overlying a second layer of softenable material and both of these layers of softenable material having migration material selectively located in depth in image configuration. Additionally, the first layer of softenable material has migration material dispersed throughout the non-image portions and the second layer of softenable material is essentially free of migration material in the non-image portions. The process steps comprise applying a receiver sheet to the free surface of the first layer of softenable material and separating the receiver sheet from the imaging member thereby stripping out either portions of the first layer of softenable material or portions of the first and second layer of the softenable material simultaneously. The portions of the softenable material being stripped out contains substantially the same density of migration material.
