  • Patent number: 6224115
Abstract: An entry fitting having a cylindrical portion and a conical portion including a seal disposed about the body of the entry fitting. An axial displacement member urges the seal along the conical portion to achieve a relatively wide range of sealing force. The entry fitting can include a shield positioned on the exterior of a sump to provide an access space for displacement of the entry fitting toward the exterior of the sump to allow removal and replacement of the seal without first having to remove backfill from the exterior of the sump.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 8, 1996
Date of Patent: May 1, 2001
    Assignee: Delaware Capital Formation, Inc.

  • Patent number: 6123365
Abstract: A shield positioned on the exterior of a sump to provide an access space for displacement of a portion of an entry fitting into the access space. The shield can allow for the removal of the entry fitting or an entry fitting seal without having to first remove backfill from the exterior of the sump.

  • Patent number: 5664951
Abstract: A swivel adapter for an inlet conduit to an underground storage includes two relatively rotatable components. The relative rotation between the components prevents sealing loss between the adapter and the inlet conduit when the adapter is subjected to torque.

  • Patent number: 5222832
Abstract: A below grade, spill containment device for connection with the riser pipe of an underground fuel storage tank. The containment device is disposed within and isolated from a manhole, which is mounted in a concrete apron. The containment device comprises a compositely formed container, rigidly mounted on the riser pipe. The container formed of structural synthetic resin material elements held in assembled relation by snap fitted lugs and notches. A lid, for closing the upper, access opening, is mounted on a pivotable arm. A lever pivoted on the arm selectively engage latch means to lock the lid in a closed position. A projection on the lever prevents the manhole cover from seating if the lever is not in its lock position. A valve for draining fuel from the container to the riser pipe is closed when the lid is open and opened when the lid is closed. The manhole and the containment device are packaged in a shipping carton in spaced relation be corrugated paper sheets.

  • Patent number: 4804206
Abstract: A swivel construction and method of making the same are provided, the construction comprising a body member and an adaptor member, each member having opposed ends and having a passage passing through the ends thereof, one end of the body member and one end of the adaptor member being disposed in telescoped relation, the construction having a retainer disposed between the telescoped ends and tending to hold the members in the telescoped relation while permitting swivel movement therebetween, the construction having a seal disposed between the telescoped ends and tending to seal the telescoped ends together while permitting swivel movement therebetween, the construction having a bearing disposed between the telescoped ends and intermediate the retainer and the seal, the construction having structure for causing the seal to leak a certain amount after the retainer has worn away the bearing a certain amount but is still maintaining the one ends in the telescoped relation thereof.
