  • Patent number: 4753263
Abstract: A pressure regulating valve which will give a constant pressure output comprises a housing of soft magnetic material such as low carbon steel, an armature of soft magnetic carbon steel in the housing and having an outlet exhaust passageway therethrough provided with an exhaust port, an inlet for the fluid the pressure of which is regulated, a valve seat in the inlet passageway, a dual headed valve, preferably non-magnetic, one head of which coacts with the valve seat to control the inlet and the other head of which controls the exhaust port, an electrical coil for generating a magnetic flux acting on the armature with a force urging the armature inwardly of the housing in opposition to the force of the inlet fluid acting against the dual headed valve and the inner end of the armature urging the armature and valve outwardly, the valve moving with the armature to vary the gap between the valve head and valve seat in the inlet passageway whereby the output pressure is directly a function of the coil current and

  • Patent number: 4674536
Abstract: Electrohydraulic valves for use in high fluid pressure systems such as automotive anti-skid brake systems, power steering systems and machine tool systems comprising a valve body of magnetic material, a valve seat member of magnetic material having a non-magnetic insert defining the seat and a coil surrounding a portion of the valve body and the valve seat adapted to be controlled by a microcomputer to provide pulses to a ball positioned between the valve seats and thereby control the flow through the valve. In one form the valve includes a second set of opposed valve seats, a second ball, and a second coil. In each form, a sleeve surrounds the valve seats and the balls and hydraulically isolates them from the coil associated therewith.

  • Patent number: 4595035
Abstract: A pulse width modulated valve comprising a valve housing including a transverse wall, an extension extending axially from the transverse wall and a peripheral wall extending axially from the periphery of the transverse wall in a direction opposite to the direction in which the axial extension extends. A pole piece extends axially inwardly of the housing and a transverse wall extends radially outwardly into engagement with the peripheral wall and is connected thereto. The pole piece defines a first seat, and a non-magnetic insert is positioned in an axial passage in the axial extension defines a second seat. A spring loaded ball has limited movement between the first and second seats. The insert defines passages to the exterior of the axial extension. A coil assembly is positioned in the housing.

  • Patent number: 4556085
Abstract: A solenoid valve comprising a housing including a first transverse wall, a first axial extension extending from the transverse wall, and an integral peripheral wall extending axially in the opposite direction from the periphery of the transverse wall. A center pole member includes a pole extending axially within the peripheral wall of the housing and includes a second transverse wall extending radially outwardly into engagement with the peripheral wall. The center pole includes an axial extension extending in the opposite direction from the first axial extension. A coil surrounds the pole piece. The axial extensions of the housing include axial openings and the center pole includes an axial opening aligned with the openings of the axial extensions. A ball valve has limited axial movement between the seats on the center pole and second axial extension.

  • Patent number: 3998572
Abstract: An oil seal for rotary piston internal combustion engines, and method of making the same, comprising a spacer-spring disposed in a circular groove in the rotary piston end face, and a pair of annular oil scraping rails radially spaced from each other within the groove and urged into sealing engagement with the rotor housing end wall by the spacer-spring. The spring includes a pair of circular concentric bands which rest upon the groove root, and a plurality of circumferentially spaced struts connecting the bands and acting to space the rails from each other against respective groove side walls. A plurality of circumferentially spaced spring legs extend from each of the circular bands generally radially across the groove to engage the radially opposite oil scraping rail and urge the rail against the housing end wall.
