  • Publication number: 20240149329
Abstract: A method for forming and installing a retaining ring comprises: feeding a wire in a linear path into a forming die having a circular bore; forming, using the forming die, the wire into a formed ring having a ring shape; transferring the formed ring from the forming die to a transfer puck; and installing the formed ring, as a retaining ring, in a tube of a product assembly. The formed ring is maintained in a constrained state between forming in the forming die and installation in the product assembly. A system for forming and installing a retaining ring into a product assembly includes a forming die configured to form a wire into a formed ring having a ring shape; and a transfer puck to transfer the formed ring from the forming die. • Publication number: 20240134727
Abstract: A storage device write-read error reduction system includes a computing device that includes a storage device. The storage device determines, at a temperature that is within a predefined temperature range, that a storage device background operation should be performed and, in response, identifies data that is stored in the storage device and that was written to the storage device outside the predefined temperature range. The storage device then prioritizes the data that was written to the storage device outside the predefined temperature range over data that was written to the storage device within the predefined temperature range and, based on that prioritization, performs the storage device background operation to rewrite the data to the storage device.

  • Publication number: 20240068758
Abstract: A modular two-piece bolt system for firearms with blowback actions provides a rear bolt piece which detachably couples to plural different front bolt pieces each of different mass. The front bolt pieces have a similar configuration and common coupling interface which forms an interlocked relationship with a complementary configured coupling interface on the rear bolt piece to prevent axial separation of the pieces when the action of the firearm is cycled. The system allows various front bolt pieces to be selected and used interchangeably with the rear bolt piece so that a front bolt piece of proper mass can be matched to the energy of ammunition to be fired. The front and rear bolt pieces when coupled define a continuous extended longitudinal passage which receives the rear breech end portion of the firearm barrel therethrough to reduce the projected length of the barrel.

  • Publication number: 20170094934
Abstract: A milking device including a base frame, a functional frame coupled to the base frame and configured to move relative to the base frame with a teat detector and at least one milking cup holder with a milking cup to move relative to the milking cup holder. The functional frame can be filled relative to the base frame through an angle around at least one horizontal tilting axis transversely to a connection line between the teat detector and the milking cup holder. There may be two horizontal tilting axes, and consequently the functional frame can be subjected to a combination of a primary tilting movement and a secondary tilting movement. It is then possible to adjust an optimal level for the functional frame, and also an optimal mutual height relation of the teat detector and the milking cup in the milking cup holder.

  • Patent number: 8844035
Abstract: Techniques for responding to intrusions on a packet switched network include receiving user data at a subscriber-aware gateway server between a network access server and a content server. The user data includes subscriber identifier data that indicates a unique identifier for a particular user, network address data that indicates a network address for a host used by the particular user, NAS data that indicates an identifier for the network access server, flow list data that indicates one or more open data packet flows, and suspicious activity data. The suspicious activity data indicates a value for a property of the open data packet flows that indicates suspicious activity. It is determined whether an intrusion condition is satisfied based on the suspicious activity data. If the intrusion condition is satisfied, then the gateway responds based at least in part on user data other than the network address data.

  • Patent number: 6705083
Abstract: The subject invention provides a master cylinder having a compact profile. In particular, the master cylinder comprises a hollow body having a continuous outer wall with a continuous thickness. An end wall is integrally formed with the outer wall at a first end to close an end of an integrally formed bore. A number of apertures are formed within the outer wall to provide fluid communication between the outer wall and the bore. A flange is also integrally formed with the outer wall at a second end to define a fully integrated master cylinder. The outer wall further includes thickened sections extending between an inner surface of the bore and a mounting surface with the thickened sections being at least 30 percent smaller than the inner diameter of the bore for providing the compact profile of the integrated master cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6442610
Abstract: A transparently-bridged wide area network connecting Ethernet/IEEE 802.3-based local area networks uses redundant proxy devices one each LAN for internetwork communications. The proxy devices on a given LAN, implemented as data link switching (DLSw) devices, mediate for proxy services by generation and maintenance of a token between the proxy devices capable of providing the corresponding proxy services. In the case of transfer of a data frame, a proxy device having received a frame from an end station determines whether any other proxy device possess a token authorizing the establishment of a circuit connection via a wide area network for transfer of the frame to another local area network. If the proxy devices determines that another proxy device possess the token, the proxy device lacking the token drops the frame. If the proxy device possesses the token, then the frame can be transferred via the wide area network.

  • Patent number: 6343330
Abstract: A transparently-bridged wide area network connecting Ethernet/IEEE 802.3-based local area networks uses redundant proxy devices on each LAN for internetwork communications. The proxy devices, implemented as data link switching (DLSw) devices, prevent looping of traffic such as explorer frames by sharing their MAC addresses to enable the proxy devices to recognize data packets from another proxy device. Incoming explorer frames from the wide area network are modified by performing an address substitution, where the source address in a received explorer frame is replaced with the address of the local proxy device. The proxy device then outputs the modified explorer frame onto the local area network. Any other proxy device on that same local network will then be able to detect the modified explorer frame as a frame forwarded by another proxy device, as opposed to a data frame from an end station on that local area network.

  • Patent number: 6318515
Abstract: A hold down spring for yieldably securing a drum brake shoe to a drum brake backing plate includes a nail that extends through apertures in the backing plate and in the brake shoe. A coil spring circumscribes the nail and urges a spring retainer slidable on the nail away from the brake shoe. The nail extends through an elongated slot in the retainer, which includes a wider portion which accepts an expanded end of the nail and a narrower portion which is narrower than the expanded end but wide enough to permit the nail to freely slide along the slot. The slot is inclined toward the brake shoe, so that the action of the spring tends to force the nail within the slot toward a seating area at one end of the slot.
