Publication number: 20240042904Abstract: A vehicle seat assembly convertible between a use position and a non-use position. The vehicle seat assembly includes a seat with a seat cushion support, a seatback, a base that connects to a vehicle, a front pivot linkage supported by the base by a first joint and pivotally connected to the seat cushion support by a second joint, and a rear foot pivotally supported by the base by a third joint. A pivoting movement of the rear foot about the third joint is lockable. The rear foot is connected to the seatback by a fourth joint. The vehicle seat also includes a fifth joint that connects the seatback to the seat cushion support, wherein the fourth joint is a latch and the fifth joint provides a free pivot, and wherein the fourth joint is latched when the seat moves from the use position to a boarding non-use position.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 5, 2022Publication date: February 8, 2024Applicant: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Kurt Leon Kormos, Rabindranath Persad, Thomas J. Patent number: 11186204Abstract: A vehicle seating arrangement includes a first seating assembly, a second seating assembly, and a third seating assembly. The second seating assembly is adjacent to the first seating assembly. Each of the first, second, and third seating assemblies include a seat and a seatback. The seatbacks are pivotably coupled to their respective seats such that the seatbacks are each pivotable between a use position and a forward-dumped position. A remote control is positioned on at least one of the first seating assembly, the second seating assembly, and the third seating assembly. Actuation of the remote control in a first direction transitions the seatback of the first seating assembly toward the forward-dumped position. Actuation of the remote control in a second direction transitions the seatback of at least one of the second and third seating assemblies toward the forward-dumped position.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2020Date of Patent: November 30, 2021Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Haofei Xie, Frank Glenn Walega, Harish Muppalla, Christopher Sean Rumaczyk, Rob Persad

Patent number: 8764113Abstract: A modular seat assembly including a seat bottom, a seat back, and a fastener. The seat bottom having a frame and a cushion, the frame including a first member having a channel with an open end. The seat back having a back frame, a back cushion, a second member, and a first restraint system. The second member is configured to be removably coupled to the first member by the fastener with the channel of the first member receiving the second member through the open end. The seat assembly is configured such that the second member may be decoupled from the first member to decouple the first seat back from the seat assembly and replace the first seat back with a second seat back.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2012Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: TK Holdings Inc.Inventors: Paul Michael Smith, Bradley Michael Glance, Thomas Grzybowski, Frank Glenn Walega

Patent number: 8375530Abstract: A buckle assembly for a vehicle includes a seat belt tongue and a seat belt buckle with a blocking mechanism and a manual release button. The blocking mechanism is configured to latch the tongue in the buckle. The buckle assembly further includes a remote buckle release mechanism, including a buckle release cable and a module operably connected to the cable. The module is configured to pull the cable to release the blocking mechanism to thereby release the seat belt tongue from the buckle. The buckle assembly is also configured to be actuated by an occupant via the manual release button on the buckle. The remote buckle release mechanism does not interfere with operation of the manual release button. The remote buckle release mechanism may also be configured to automatically release the buckles a predetermined time after an airbag deployment.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2012Date of Patent: February 19, 2013Assignee: TK Holdings Inc.Inventors: Frank Glenn Walega, Thomas Grzybowski, Brandon Scott Marriott, Nicklaus John Pelliccia
