  • Patent number: 8162591
Abstract: A multistage compressor for a gas turbine, having a compressor housing, guide vanes, impeller vanes, a hub area, discharge ports, and injection ports for stabilizing the compressor flow, wherein the discharge ports are situated at least one stage downstream from the injection ports, the injection ports being fashioned as nozzles, and the geometry of these nozzles is designed such that the flow speed of the injected air stream is significantly greater than the speed of the flow in a critical cross-section.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 26, 2006
Date of Patent: April 24, 2012
    Assignee: MTU Aero Engines GmbH
    Inventor: Frank Grauer
  • Patent number: 7850096
Abstract: An injection head for the combustion chamber of a rock propulsion unit has a base area with a plurality of injection elements distributed on it. Propellant constituents can be injected from each outlet of the injection elements into the combustion chamber, generating hot gases by a mixing and combustion of the propellant constituents in the combustion chamber, which hot gas can be accelerated to a high velocity for generating thrust. The base area of the injection head had a contoured shape which prevents or reduces the formation of zones of a reduced pressure, particularly between directly adjacent outlets.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 21, 2008
Date of Patent: December 14, 2010
    Assignee: Astrium GmbH
    Inventors: Frank Grauer, Gerald Hagemann

  • Patent number: 7108477
Abstract: In a method for determination of a surge limit warning (W) for a turbocompressor, or a warning of blade damage, at least two measurement signals (p1, p2; {tilde over (p)}1, {tilde over (p)}2), are determined, a periodicity value (W1; {tilde over (W)}1) is calculated from at least one of the measurement signals (p1, p2; {tilde over (p)}1, {tilde over (p)}2), indicating a measure for the occurrence of periodic signal level changes in the at least one measurement signal (p1, p2; {tilde over (p)}1, {tilde over (p)}2) for a predetermined first time offset (t1), a correlation value (W2; {tilde over (W)}2) is calculated from the at least two measurement signals (p1, p2; {tilde over (p)}1, {tilde over (p)}2), indicating a measure for the similarity of the at least two measurement signals (p1, p2; {tilde over (p)}1, {tilde over (p)}2) to one another for a predetermined second time offset (t2), and the surge limit warning (W) or the warning of blade damage (W) is determined from the periodicity value (W1; {tilde over (
