  • Patent number: 11041407
Abstract: A turbocharger includes a turbine with a housing and a rotor for expanding a first medium; a compressor with a housing and a rotor for compressing a second medium utilizing energy extracted in the turbine during expansion of the first medium. A housing surrounds the turbine housing and/or the compressor housing and/or the bearing housing at least in sections, which housing is at least formed from a first housing section and a second housing section, which are connected to one another via screw connections. On the first housing section, shearing force absorption elements are formed or fastened which extend through the second housing section and in the event that shearing forces occur, absorb the shearing forces and thus relieve the screw connections of the shearing forces.

  • Publication number: 20200355200
Abstract: A turbo machine, having a housing and, an impeller received in the housing. The housing has at least two housing parts connected to one another via a flange connection. A first housing part of the housing parts has threaded bores for connecting screws. A second housing part of the housing parts connected to one another has through-bores for the connecting screws. The second housing part lies against the first housing part with a first face and screw heads of the connecting screws lie against an opposite second face of the second housing part. The through-bores of the second housing part on and adjacent to the second face have a smaller cross-sectional area than on and adjacent to the first face.

  • Publication number: 20200157968
Abstract: A burst protection device is provided for a radial turbocharger having a turbine housing completely enclosing a turbine wheel rotatably arranged in the turbine housing, and turbine housing inner wall. The burst protection device is annularly arranged in the radial turbocharger about a central axis (A) in a circumferential direction on the turbine housing inner wall, so as to at least partly engage about the turbine wheel. The burst protection device defines at least one recess/hollow space. The at least one recess/hollow space is configured such that kinetic energy of fragments of the turbine wheel produced upon bursting of the turbine wheel is absorbed by the burst protection device based on plastic deformation of the at least one recess/hollow space, a first one of the at least one recess/hollow space being unilaterally open in a direction of the turbine housing.
