  • Patent number: 6402244
Abstract: An aircraft passenger seat is formed of a mounting frame having a tilt axis about which a seat part containing a seating surface and a backrest is tiltable. To ensure simple measures for adjusting the seat part with little movement in a region of the front edge, the tilt axis is disposed in a middle portion of the seating surface and a device is provided in a front portion of the seating surface which reduces the thigh pressure in the front portion of the seating surface on reclining the seat part. This may be achieved for example by a forwards downswept outer contour of the seating surface in the front portion.

  • Patent number: 5810290
Abstract: An improved vehicle seating row, in particular an airplane passenger seating row. The seating row is provided with at least one seat which can be displaced in the direction of the cross struts of a framework relative to the neighboring seat between two positions in which the seat row has a maximum or a minimum width and which can be locked in these positions to the framework by means of a latching mechanism, and with a hand lever mounted at one of the two end seat dividers which can be moved to three different tilted positions for actuating of the latching mechanism as well as a manually releasable locking device for the hand lever. The center position of the hand lever is associated with the released state of the latching mechanism and the two other tilted positions are associated with the effective state of the latching mechanism for the installation of the seating row with minimum or maximum widths, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5702154
Abstract: A series of vehicle seats, in particular airline passenger seats, which can be adjusted from three seats of normal width to two seats of enlarged width and vice versa, displays a coupling device through which two side parts of the seat back of the middle seat can be connected alternatively with the middle part or the seat backs of both outside seats. The coupling device connects the gear with the hand lever through a telescopically elongatable shaft only in the swinging area of a hand lever used for an adjustment between the middle position and an end position. The elongatable shaft includes a first section equipped with a spline bore hub and a second section that can be shifted axially relative to the first, which is formed on one part of its length like a spline shaft which only meshes with the spline bore hub when the gears connect.
