Patent number: 9607605Abstract: An ultrasonic sensor and method for using the same are arranged for capturing a value document transported through a capture region of the ultrasonic sensor. The ultrasonic sensor has an ultrasound transmitter arranged for emitting ultrasound into the capture region and an ultrasound receiver arranged for receiving ultrasound from the ultrasound transmitter from the capture region. A control and evaluation circuit is arranged for controlling the ultrasound transmitter and for capturing and evaluating the signals of the ultrasound receiver. A circuit carrier carries the control and evaluation circuit, the ultrasound transmitter, the ultrasound receiver, and conducting paths electrically connecting the control and evaluation circuit to the first and second ultrasonic transducers. The circuit carrier has a U-shaped configuration and two interconnected arm portions, and the ultrasound transmitter is held on one of the two arm portions and the ultrasound receiver on the other of the two arm portions.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2012Date of Patent: March 28, 2017Assignee: GIESECKE & DEVRIENT GMBHInventors: Hans-Uwe Moosler, Oskar Dicklberger, Joseph Lohner, Frank Hermann

Publication number: 20170068791Abstract: A system having preclinical emergency care modules which produce a complex condition dependent control system that is as integral as possible in combination with a human emergency worker. At the system level, an intelligent decision-making system is provided which leads to measures that are optimized for the situation with and without the emergency worker. The modules exhibit a different behavior depending on the situation and interaction. In the process, the emergency worker can be utilized as an additional sensor/actuator module. Based on all obtained sensor data, which is weighted differently, decision-making support is proposed to the emergency worker, or the system makes decisions automatically. The protected communication of the modules is of particular importance for this purpose.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2015Publication date: March 9, 2017Inventors: Frank Hermann, Tobias Kalwa, Felix Klockner, Ulrich Palm, Norman Scotti

Patent number: 5760907Abstract: A process and device for the optical testing of a surface in which the surface can be illuminated substantially from above by at least one upper light and from the side by at least one lower light, at a sharp angle with respect to the surface. The light reflected and/or scattered by the surface is recorded in a test period by at least one light-sensitive receiver and at least one actual image which is compared with at least one desired image is produced. To permit an improved test provision is made for the surface to be recorded by the light-sensitive receiver at least twice during the test period. During the recording periods in question the surface is illuminated by an at least intermittent illumination from above and/or from the side in a different manner in order to obtain at least two actual images with different illumination of the surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1996Date of Patent: June 2, 1998Assignee: Basler GmbHInventors: Norbert Basler, Jorg Fiedler, Bryan Hayes, Frank Hermann

Patent number: 5555070Abstract: In photographic recordings made by fluorescence microscopy, it is possible for a bleaching out of the preparation to occur, associated with a loss of fluorescence intensity. This so-called "fading" demands an exposure time correction. Where there is a decrease of the light intensity which obeys a known function, exposure takes place over a first exposure time T.sub.1 derived from the light intensity I.sub.1 measured prior to the exposure. The exposure process is then interrupted, and a further intensity I.sub.2 is measured. Then, if required, exposure takes place over a further exposure time T.sub.2, computed from I.sub.1, I.sub.2 and T.sub.1. In this way, in each instance, all of the light of the photographic beam path passes both to the sensor for measurement for measuring intensities and also to the film for exposure. To deflect the photographic beam path, a rotatable mirror is disposed in the beam path, which mirror is controllable by means of a central processor, in the same manner as a shutter.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1993Date of Patent: September 10, 1996Assignee: Leica Mikroskopie und Systeme GmbHInventor: Frank Hermann

Patent number: 5453829Abstract: A method and device for measurement of exposure times in optical devices are disclosed. Specifically, a measuring diaphragm plate and a mask plate are associated with a measurement path and a projection path of the optical device and include a plurality of corresponding measuring diaphragms and masks, respectively. A graticule having markings corresponding to the contours of the measuring diaphragms is provided in the projection path proximate the mask plate and conjugate to an intermediate image plane, and a motor for selectively positioning a measuring diaphragm on the measuring path is synchronized with a motor for positioning a corresponding mask on the projection path, such that a selected measuring diaphragm and its corresponding contour markings are simultaneously imaged at the intermediate image plane.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1994Date of Patent: September 26, 1995Assignee: Leica Mikroskopie und Systeme GmbHInventors: Lucius Remer, Manfred Gilbert, Frank Hermann
