  • Patent number: 4868408
Abstract: The disclosed portable water-powered electric generator unit has a tubular form with opposite open inlet and outlet ends defining a longitudinal flow path for the moving stream water. The tubular form defines a converging venturi terminating at a throat between the inlet and outlet ends. An electric dynamo, having a sealed housing and external driving propeller means, is supported in the flow path downsteam of the throat, with the propeller means at the throat. The inlet end is between 2-5 times larger in area than the venturi throat, to speed up the water passing through the propeller means. The tubular form and housing together define a diverging venturi downstream from the throat, decelerating the water with minimal losses before exiting from the open outlet end. The open outlet end is 1.1-1.

  • Patent number: 4844156
Abstract: The invention discloses a method to enhance flow of oil bearing crude from a stripper well, by sealing the concentric well casing and tubing components together across the annular space between these components, at a level generally above any liquid in the casing, to define a sealed space open via perforations in the casing to the surrounding oil bearing formation; by evacuating gases from the defined sealed space to establish subatmospheric pressure conditions therein that may be reduced only by flow of fluids including the crude through the well casing perforations from the surrounding oil bearing formation; by discontining these conditions and immediately thereafter injecting a fluid into the defined sealed space, to pressurize the defined space to superatmospheric pressure conditions; by repeating both phases of the cycle between the subatmospheric and superatmospheric pressure conditions, sequentially over and over; and by operating a lift pump means in the well tubing, at least part of the time during e

  • Patent number: 4534574
Abstract: The disclosed chuck has a cylindrical body and a mounting hub secured thereto for concentrically connecting the body to the powered spindle of a lightweight woodturning lathe. The body has a faceplate opposite the mounting hub, and radial grooves are formed in the body from the faceplate. Adjustment screws fit in the grooves, being rotatably held therein by spaced bearings, and chuck jaws are supported on the rotatable adjustment screws and project forwardly from the faceplate. Rotation of each adjustment screw thus moves the chuck jaw thereon radially of the faceplate and within the grooves to provide keyed gripping of a workpiece to be shaped by the lathe. The workpiece can be of virtually any cross section as each jaw can be independently adjusted. The chuck body is approximately 10 inches in diameter and 1 inch in thickness and is formed of wood to be light in weight, only approximately 3 pounds.
