  • Patent number: 5937453
Abstract: A sealing assembly is provided for a swimming pool skimmer. The sealing assembly includes a rigid frame-shaped face plate (12) with a central opening and having a sealing flange (18) around its outer periphery and further has a protruding section outwardly extending from one side thereof which also includes a peripheral sealing flange. A detachable cover (2) is also provided which is made from a flexible plastic material. The cover (2) has a flat central portion for closing off the opening in the skimmer plate and carries a peripheral lip for engaging the sealing flange around the face plate. The cover (2) also includes a protruding section which carries a peripheral lip which overlays the protruding section of the face plate and engages the peripheral sealing flange thereof.

  • Patent number: 5388567
Abstract: A solar heater for a swimming pool or the like is formed by heat sealing two rectangular sheets of a flexible thermoplastic material, such as black vinyl, around the peripheral edges thereof. A plurality of spaced apart heat sealed seams are formed between the two sheets. The seams have end portions alternately spaced from and joined to the sealed peripheral edge to define a plurality of passageways forming a serpentine water pathway through the collector. Inlet and outlet fittings communicate with the passageways to permit pool water to circulate in the collector to be heated therein.

  • Patent number: 5285538
Abstract: A sealing assembly is provided for a swimming pool skimmer. The sealing assembly includes a face plate having either one of a laterally extending, raised bead or an outwardly extending flange around the periphery thereof. A flexible cover element includes a peripheral lip for sealably engaging the raised bead or the flange of the face plate. The flexible cover element also includes a planar portion which bears against the flat surface of the face plate around the central opening therein to provide secondary or primary sealing.

  • Patent number: 5194162
Abstract: A method for reducing an isocyanuric acid level concentration in swimming pool water to prevent chlorine lock. The method comprises the steps of adding an effective amount of sodium hydroxide to the pool water and reacting the sodium hydroxide with the isocyanuric acid therein to reduce the isocyanuric concentration to a level of between about 40 to 60 PPM.

  • Patent number: 4819681
Abstract: A method and apparatus for draining a swimming pool cover includes upper and lower flanged members having a central drain passage for sealably fitting around a hole formed in the pool cover. A drain tube upwardly extends from the upper flange and communicates with the passage thereof. An elbow fitting or the like communicates at one end with the passage in the lower flange and at another end with a flexible conduit. The conduit extends from the elbow fitting for connection to a conventional return water port fitting located at the pool sidewall. As water accumulates on the cover to a predetermined depth, the excess water drains into the drain tube and travels through the flexible conduit to exit the pool at the sidewall port fitting. A perforated drain closure member is also preferably employed around the drain tube to prevent debris blockage and to provide for adjustably regulating the height and weight of water stored on the cover for hold-down purposes.
