    Abstract: An improved pyrotechnic delay system wherein temperature compensation means re utilized to minimize or eliminate ambient temperature affects upon the burning rate and variability of the delay. Apparatus and method are provided to increase the accuracy of cartridges employing pyrotechnic delay compositions by decreasing differences in composition burning time between extreme ambient temperatures. In the apparatus and method a flash chamber is programmed to increase in volume during initiation of the delay column at elevated temperatures to increase the accuracy of cartridges employing pyrotechnic delay compositions.
