  • Patent number: 6706935
Abstract: A method is disclosed for increasing in a composition the mole fraction of a compound selected from the group CF3CHCl2, CF3CHF2 and CF3CHClF relative to the total mole fraction of the other two compounds of the group. The method comprises (a) providing a gaseous composition comprising at least one compound of said group provided that (i) if the selected compound is either CF3CHCl2 or CF3CHF2, said gaseous composition comprises CF3CHFCl and the mole fraction of the selected compound relative to the other two compounds in said gaseous composition is less than its equilibrium amount at 50° C., and (ii) if the selected compound is CF3CHFCl, said gaseous composition comprises both CF3CHCl2 and CF3CHF2 and the mole fraction of the selected compound relative to the other two compounds in said gaseous composition is less than its equilibrium amount at 500° C.

  • Patent number: 6194619
Abstract: A catalyic process is disclosed for producing fluorine-substituted hydrocarbon products of the formulae RCH2CF2R and RFC═CHR at an elevated temperature, from compounds of the formula RCHFCHFR, where each R is independently selected from the group consisting of —CF3, —CF2CF3 and —CF2CF2CF3 or where both R groups of a formula together are —(CF2)2—, —(CF2)3— or —(CF2)4—. Suitable catalysts include carbon catalysts and catalysts containing at least one compound of a selected metal (e.g., Na, K, Rb, Cs, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Cr, Fe, Co, Rh, Ni, Cu, and/or Zn) supported on carbon. The saturated gem-dihydro- products may also be produced by hydrofluorinating the corresponding olefinic product over such catalysts at an elevated temperature, and can be combined with various other miscible solvents to form compositions useful for cleaning.

  • Patent number: 4064171
Abstract: In the catalytic reaction of cyclohexane or an alkylated cyclohexane with ammonia to produce aniline or an alkylated aniline, the presence of water is beneficial in increasing the amount of aromatic amines produced, or in reducing the amount of undesired by-products, or both. The amount of water is 1 to 70 mole percent based on the total amount of the cyclohexane reactant and water used. The catalysts used are exemplified by zinc oxide, titanium oxide, etc.; metal compounds such as vanadates, molybdates and titanates; and cadmium sulfide, zinc selenide and the like.

  • Patent number: 4061685
Abstract: A phenol is produced by heating water and a cyclic or acyclic alkane or alkene of 6-10 carbon atoms at a temperature of 350.degree. to 700.degree. C in the presence of a metal oxide catalyst. Exemplary is the heating of water and cyclohexane in a nitrogen atmosphere and in the presence of ZnO/TiO.sub.2 to produce phenol.

  • Patent number: 4059628
Abstract: Aniline and alkyl anilines are obtained by the reaction of anhydrous ammonia with cyclohexane or cyclohexane having up to two lower alkyl substituents at elevated temperatures, such as 300-650.degree. C, in the presence of selected catalysts such as zinc oxide alone or with vanadium, molybdenum, or titanium oxides, etc.; metal compounds such as vanadates, molybdates and titanates; and cadmium sulfide, zinc selenide and the like.
