Patent number: 11945657Abstract: A system and a method for condition monitoring during the operation of a conveyor system, in particular an airport baggage conveyor system, includes conveyor units and a background system. A conveyor unit includes an individual conveyor line and/or a group of conveyor lines. It is possible to record an individual current characteristic of an individual conveyor unit. Each individual conveyor unit has a defined current characteristic during fault-free operation and the background system is configured to record the defined current characteristic and the actual current characteristic of the conveyor unit. The background system is configured to analyze the actual current characteristic of the conveyor unit and to signal, on the basis of the analysis, an impending wear and/or a malfunction of the conveyor system, in particular of a conveyor line of the conveyor unit.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2020Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: Siemens Logistics GmbHInventors: Frank Koenig, Ivan Castelino, Dominik Kimling, Harsha Kallayya Mathad, Arun Kumar Unnikrishna Karnaver

Publication number: 20230339693Abstract: Airport luggage carousels are usually operated in a run-to-failure approach that necessarily leads to failures. Anomalies are detected during operation of a conveyor system having a revolving drive chain, a drive unit and a conveyor belt. The drive chain serves to transmit force and motion from a drive unit to a conveyor belt, and has chain elements and pins connecting them. At least one of the pins is a force measurement pin that registers the forces acting thereon during movement of the drive chain. The registered forces are transmitted wirelessly to the background system together with a timestamp and/or a location stamp and an identity of the force measurement pin. The transmitted data are analyzed in the background system and, in the event of deviations, identified as an anomaly and signaled by a notification. The measurement results are evaluated to derive maintenance measures in a targeted manner.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 19, 2021Publication date: October 26, 2023Inventors: Frank König, Bengt Mueck

The holding element has a holding ring and a recess located in the holding ring for an interface of the surgical microscope. The holding ring has an asymmetrical contour delimiting the recess such that in a condition in which the holding element is fastened to the surgical microscope there is only one possible fastening position of the holding element on the interface of the surgical microscope that corresponds to the contour of the holding ring, in which position an orientation of the holding element relative to the surgical microscope is defined.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 27, 2023Publication date: September 28, 2023Inventors: Andreas Raab, Frank König

Publication number: 20220234837Abstract: If a failure of components of a transport-system sliding contact can be predicted, preventive maintenance that is sometimes unnecessary is eliminated and an alternative run-to-failure approach associated with downtime can be avoided. A system and a method detect wear of a transport system, which system has a sliding contact with a current collector and a current-carrying conductor. A current-collector vibration sensor mounted on the current collector is configured to register vibrations produced by driving motion of the vehicle along the current-carrying conductor and to wirelessly transmit the vibrations to a background system. The background system is configured to subject data transmitted to the background system, in particular the registered vibrations, to an analysis and to signal wear of the transport system, in particular wear of the current collector and/or of the current-carrying conductor, on the basis of the analysis.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2020Publication date: July 28, 2022Inventor: Frank Koenig

Patent number: 11279567Abstract: A method for wear detection during the operation of a conveying system having a closed circulating path, a pick-up which is attached to at least one running gear and which makes contact with a surface of a rail in the case of wear of the wheel and/or the rail, includes using a sensor coupled to the pick-up to register vibrations produced by the contact. The vibrations are transmitted wirelessly to a background system and are evaluated. The method and a conveying system allow wear detection, in particular in the case of closed conveying systems, and considerably reduce maintenance complexity.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2019Date of Patent: March 22, 2022Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventor: Frank Koenig
