  • Patent number: 4105500
Abstract: A diagnostic device for a liquid sample comprising, a receptacle having a cavity containing a culture medium, and means for establishing communication with the sample. The device has pump means for withdrawing and expelling liquid, and valve means for separately establishing communication of the establishing means and the receptacle with the pump means, in order that a liquid sample may be withdrawn by the pump means through the establishing and valve means and expelled by the pump means through the valve means into the receptacle for inoculation of the culture medium.

  • Patent number: 4062068
Abstract: A chin strap for protective headgear comprising, an elongated first strap having means for attaching opposed end portions of the first strap to the headgear. The chin strap has a second strap having opposed ends connected to the first strap at spaced first and second points in a central portion of the first strap, with the first and second straps being spaced from each other intermediate the connecting points. The chin strap has a third strap having one end connected to the first strap at a third point intermediate the first and second connecting points and adjacent the first connecting point, and having means for attaching the other end portion of the third strap to the headgear. The chin strap has a fourth strap having one end connected to the first strap at a fourth point intermediate the first and second connecting points and adjacent the second connecting point, and having means for connecting the other end portion of the fourth strap to the headgear.

  • Patent number: 4051852
Abstract: A device for aspirating body fluids comprising, a valve assembly having a first port to receive body fluids, a second port for passage of the body fluids from the valve assembly, and a passageway communicating between the first and second ports. The valve assembly has one-way valve means associated with the passageway to permit passage of body fluids from the first port to the second port and prevent passage of body fluids from the second port to the first port. The device has port means communicating with the passageway intermediate the valve means and first port, with the port means being normally closed to prevent contamination of the device, and being openable to permit passage of fluid through the port means to the first port.

  • Patent number: 4013064
Abstract: Port means for a liquid transport system comprising, a relatively rigid body member having an inner surface defining a lumen, and an opening extending through a side of the body member and communicating between the lumen and the outside of the body member. The port means has a flexible closure member having a plug received in the opening of the body member. The plug has an inner surface defining a sidewall of the lumen, and the closure member has an outer surface defining a location for receiving a needle to penetrate the plug and establish communication with the lumen by a tip of the needle. Means is provided for securing the closure member to the body member with the plug received in the opening.
