    Abstract: The invention simplifies the wiring changes needed in a modular communications device as new modules are added to a system and it reduces the initial cost of the base unit. When a module, which contains an additional communications function is added to an existing system, it often becomes necessary to move a communications cable from the existing unit to the new module that has been added. This invention avoids the need of such a cable change, and reduces the costs of having connectors on the new module, and provides scaleable costs that are incurred only as modules are required.
