  • Publication number: 20180060183
Abstract: For adding cooperative file coloring protocols in a data deduplication system using a processor device in a computing environment, a preferred character is represented for file coloring in a file using a code selected from a multiplicity of codes that represent a variety of contexts. The original meaning of the preferred character is retained when representing the preferred character for the file coloring by the code selected from the multiplicity of codes. The file is deduplicated by the data deduplication system according to the file coloring that represents a source file of a backup application.

  • Patent number: 9672760
Abstract: A user-specific, electroencephalogram data-based secure encryption generator maps artificial neural network neuron elements to electroencephalogram data signals generated from scanning neural activity of a user while the user executes a mental activity. Weighting factors are trained to transform the electroencephalogram data signals into a first set of weighted signals that are different from weighted signals generated from scanning neural activity of the user while the user executes another, different activity, and from weighted signals generated from scanning neural activity of another user while executing a similar mental activity. The trained weighting factors are associated with the first set of electroencephalogram data signals and the current mental activity. Thus, a reproducible electroencephalogram encryption key is defined that is unique to the user as a function of one or both of the trained weighting factors and the first weighted set of electroencephalogram data signals.

  • Patent number: 9626111
Abstract: A mirrored storage system comprising a system controller coupled to a first storage system comprising a primary controller and a first storage and to a second storage system comprising a secondary controller and a second storage. The second storage contains an image of data stored in the first storage. The system controller receives data to be written to storage and sends the data to the primary controller of the first storage system and to the secondary controller of the second storage system. The system controller instructs the primary controller to write the data to the first storage of the first storage system in an ordered manner; and instructs the secondary controller to write the data sequentially to a data area on the second storage of the second storage system. Writing the data sequentially to the second storage improves the write performance.

  • Patent number: 9558197
Abstract: A cooperative data file coloring backup system includes a file color agent (FCA) and a file color storage cloud controller (FCSCC). The FCA assigns a color to a data file. The assigned color is associated with a highest projected data reduction factor achieved when backing up the data file from a host to one of various storage devices comprised within a data backup storage area network. The FCSCC maintains a list of file types and associated data reduction factors that are achieved during a backup of the file types and provides to the FCA a storage path from the host to a particular storage device within the storage area network associated with the highest data reduction factor and file type. The FCA may implement the storage path based upon the assigned color for each backup request received by the host.
