  • Patent number: 6109466
Abstract: An interference threaded closure assembly includes a container and a cap. The container has a neck portion extending therefrom, the neck portion forming an opening and having on an outer surface screw threads and at least one interference bead on the screw threads. The cap has on an inner surface screw threads and a seal for releasably engaging the opening of the neck portion to form a leak free seal. The interference bead of the screw threads engages the screw threads of the cap to create an interference fit when the screw threads are threadably engaged, thereby maintaining the leak free seal of the seal within the opening.

  • Patent number: 6019252
Abstract: A plastic container (liner) that fits closely inside a conventional aerosol can to provide protection for the can. The completed liner/container and can assembly is filled with, e.g., an acidic detergent composition and aerosol propellant. Inwardly curved channels are provided linearly down the sides of the plastic container to allow air to escape when the plastic liner/container is inserted into the body of the aerosol can before the top is added to the can. The plastic container is molded into a collar around the valve opening in the top of the can after the top is attached to the body to form a "pre-assembly" container that is then filled. An acid compatible valve assembly is attached through the valve opening to seal the can, and propellant is added.

  • Patent number: 5860546
Abstract: A squeeze contour seal assembly includes a container and a cap. The container has a neck portion which forms an opening. The neck portion has first and second wall thicknesses and screw threads for engaging the cap. The first wall thickness is greater than said second wall thickness. The cap has grooves for engaging the screw threads and a plug seal for releaseably engaging the opening when the screw threads and the grooves are threadably engaged. The second wall thickness engages a slot formed between the plug seal and the cap, thereby creating an interference fit between the neck portion and the plug seal and providing a leak free seal.

  • Patent number: 5845798
Abstract: An anti-backoff closure assembly includes a container and a cap. The container has a neck portion forming an opening and having a protrusion and screw threads on an outer surface of the neck portion. The cap has on an inner surface a second protrusion, grooves, and a seal for releasably engaging the opening of the neck portion to form a leak free seal. The first and second protrusions engage to create an interference fit when the screw threads and the grooves are threadably engaged. Upon engagement, the second protrusion deforms the first protrusion sufficiently to form an indentation on the first protrusion that resists backoff as the pressure between the screw threads and the grooves is reduced as a result of plastic relaxation, thereby maintaining the leak free seal of the seal within the opening.
