  • Patent number: 11353436
Abstract: A centrifugation approach used to accelerate current empirical methods used to investigate silicone drainage in syringes is disclosed. A siliconized syringe is placed into a holder of a centrifuge in a predefined orientation. Centrifugation of the syringe is activated at a predetermined G rate and for a period of intended simulation time and is ended as that time elapses. The time can be a function of intended simulation time, acceleration due to gravity, square of centrifuge revolution rate, and distance from center of rotor hub to matching point on the syringe barrel. One or more injection functionality parameters of the syringe is assessed after the elapsed period of time. A bucket fixture for retaining one or more syringes in the predefined orientation is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9173796
Abstract: A bed comprises a fixed width deck section, a wing movably coupled to the fixed width section, a leadscrew having a rotational axis, a leadscrew driver coupled to the leadscrew for rotating the leadscrew about its axis, and a release unit. The release unit is coupled to the wing and configured to move between a) an engaged position in which the release unit engages the lead screw and moves therealong as the leadscrew rotates about the rotational axis thereby causing the wing to translate relative to the fixed width section; and b) a disengaged position in which the release unit is disengaged from the leadscrew.

  • Patent number: 9134707
Abstract: Various embodiments are disclosed for optimal online adaptive control. One such method includes a cost function determination by a critic network coupled to the system under control. The cost function is one produces a minimum value for a cost of the system under control when applied by an action network. The method also includes a control input determination by an action network. The control input determination uses the cost function to determine a control input to apply to the system under control. The control input is one that produces the minimum value for the cost of the system under control. The method also includes simultaneously tuning respective parameters of the critic network and the action network by applying respective tuning laws that do not involve the system dynamics function f(x) for the system under test.
