  • Patent number: 6484582
Abstract: A rolling bearing which has as rolling bearing components one bearing race with a first running surface, a second bearing race with a second running surface opposed to the first surface, and rolling elements arranged between the running surfaces. At least one sensing unit is integrated into the rolling bearing components. The sensing unit can be interrogated by radio via antennas or can be connected to an interrogator by a cable. The sensing unit uses at least one component operating on the SAW or BAW principle to sense changes in length and/or changes in temperature in the material of the rolling bearing component and sends the result of the measurement after the arrival of a radio signal via the antenna or via a cable.

  • Publication number: 20020170976
Abstract: Parallel flow chemical processing systems, such as parallel flow chemical reaction systems are disclosed. These systems are adapted to simultaneously and independently vary temperature between separate flow channels, preferably by employing separate, individual heating elements in thermal communication with each of four or more parallel flow reactors. The flow reactors are preferably isolated from each other using a thermal isolation system comprising fluid-based heat exchange. In preferred embodiments, the axial heat flux can be fixedly or controllably varied.

  • Patent number: 6230408
Abstract: A method for fabrication of micro heat exchangers, which enable an efficient heat transfer between two flowing media. In a first processing step, a plastic layer is structurized by means of photolithography, x-ray deep lithography, or laser ablation. This plastic structure is galvanically molded in a second processing step, preserving the structural properties. The resulting metallic microstructure, which is the inverse of the original structure, is used as a shaping insert to produce the individual layers from which the micro heat exchanger is assembled. The method according to the invention makes it possible to cheaply produce large numbers of micro heat exchangers.

  • Patent number: 6210093
Abstract: An apparatus for displacing a plurality of objects from a pickup station to a deposition station offset horizontally from the pickup station has a support movable in a horizontal transport direction between a position directly above the pickup station and a position directly above the deposition station, an elongated lift plate underneath the support and provided with grabs for picking up and releasing the objects, a flexible belt having a lower end extending in the direction and secured to the lift plate, a drive on the support for paying out and winding in the belt and thereby raising and lowering the plate, and rigid links connected between the plate and the support for inhibiting movement of the plate perpendicular to the direction.

  • Patent number: 5727747
Abstract: A process is disclosed for removing a shrink wrapping drawn over a stack of goods. The shrink wrapping is vertically cut at one side of the stack of goods, one edge of the cut is held and secured to a winding spindle, and the winding spindle is then guided around the stack of goods so that the shrink wrapping is winded on the winding spindle that rotates around its longitudinal axis. Also disclosed is a device for carrying out the process.

  • Patent number: 3947145
Abstract: A seal is provided between adjacent stationary annular shroud members in a gas turbine. The shroud members have an axially directed gap disposed between their adjoining ends. Each adjoining end of each stationary shroud has a shoulder arrangement which provides support for a seal disposed across the gap. The shoulders on the ends of the shrouds provide restraint against radially inwardly directed dislocation, and a blade ring which supports the shroud members themselves, provides restraint against axial and radially outwardly directed dislocation. The seal prevents escape of hot motive fluid from the generally axially directed working fluid flow path.

  • Patent number: 3938906
Abstract: A slidable seal is disposed in one end of each stationary arcuate shroud segment in a gas turbine. The seal is forced by a spring across a gap between adjacent shroud segments, to abut against an end of an adjacent shroud segment. The slidable seal helps control fluid leakage in both the axial and the radial direction.
