  • Patent number: 5079087
Abstract: The surfaces of articles of manufacture fabricated from aluminum or other metals which are not permanently hydrophilic are made permanently hydrophilic by coating the surfaces with a continuous film containing particles of activated alumina. The coated articles are not only hydrophilic, but also have good corrosion resistance and exhibit low abrasiveness, resulting in decreased wear on manufacturing tools, such as dies.

  • Patent number: 4751086
Abstract: An electrochemically active aluminum alloy is described which consists essentially of 0.01 to 0.20 percent by weight of indium, at least one of 0.01 to 0.25 percent by weight of manganese and 0.01 to 1.5 percent by weight magnesium, and the balance being aluminum preferably having a purity of at least 99.99 percent by weight. The alloy may contain up to 0.03 percent by weight of iron and preferably contains both manganese and magnesium. It is particularly useful as a battery anode with alkaline electrolytes.
