  • Patent number: 4807299
Abstract: A flexible bulk container comprises a side wall structure having an outer wall (10) and an inner wall (11) lying within and closely adjacent to the outer wall. A base closes a lower open end of the side wall structure. A plurality of lifting loops are provided at the upper end of the side wall structure, each lifting loop having a first end that is connected to or integral with the outer wall (10) and a second end that is connected to or integral with the inner wall (11).

  • Patent number: 4610028
Abstract: A flexible bulk container has a side wall structure 1 formed from a length of tubular woven fabric comprising a base fabric and a plurality of parallel reinforcing bands such as 2 to 5 integrally woven with the base fabric and extending parallel to the tube axis. A bottom 26 is stitched to the side wall structure at one end of the fabric length and a top wall structure 24 may be secured at the other end of the fabric length. The container has a plurality of lifting loops 20 to 23 at the top end of the fabric length, each lifting loop being formed by cutting back a portion of the base fabric alongside each of two adjacent reinforcing bands (e.g. 3 and 4) to leave parts of the bands projecting from the base fabric, and securing together the free ends of the projecting parts to form the loop (e.g. 20). One of the projecting parts may be twisted through 180.degree. before the free ends are joined together.

  • Patent number: 4597102
Abstract: An intermediate bulk container comprises an outer envelope (1 to 6) formed of flexible woven material and having seams (11 to 14). An impervious liner (20) of flexible material is contained within the outer envelope. The liner has tab means (27) lying outside the volume defined within the liner and secured, for example by stitching into a respective seam of the outer envelope. By appropriate location of the tab means on the liner the liner may be securely located within the outer envelope and prevented from distortion relative to the outer envelope.

  • Patent number: 4493109
Abstract: A flexible bulk container assembled from a single length of material. The container comprises a base (5), first and second opposed side walls (6,7) each joined to the base and third and fourth opposed side walls each composed of two panel sections (8,9 and 10,11 respectively) joined along a vertical center seam, each third and fourth side wall being joined to the first and second side walls and to the base. Each side wall has two spaced parallel reinforcing bands (2,3) extending from the bottom to the top thereof, each band being extended above the top of the side wall into a connection section that connects with the closer reinforcing band of the adjacent side wall to form a lifting loop (12 to 14) over the respective corner of the container. Each connecting section is a continuous extension of the two reinforcing bands that it connects, so avoiding stitching of the lifting loops to the wall fabric.

  • Patent number: 4010784
Abstract: A bag for transporting bulk quantities of powdered or granular material, the bag having a top and four separate lifting loops disposed around the top, each loop having a bight and two spaced legs. Each leg is secured to the fabric of the bag by folding a section of the fabric to a substantially S-shaped configuration along fold lines extending from the top towards the bottom of the bag to form three overlying thicknesses of fabric and stitching through the three thicknesses of fabric and the leg. The resulting characteristic shape of the bag provides inherent stability to the bag and the stitching technique allows high factors of safety to be obtained. In a presently preferred embodiment, the filled bag has a shape resembling that of a wide-necked bottle, with a broader base and a tapered top.

  • Patent number: 3961655
Abstract: A bag for transporting bulk material, comprising an outer bag member having a base section with an opening therein and side walls, means secured to upper parts of said side walls by way of which said bag may be lifted, an inner liner within said outer bag member, a lower end of said liner terminating in a tubular section, a retaining member normally retained at the base of said bag but capable of being released therefrom, means securing said tubular section to said retaining member, and a releasable closure means closing said tubular section.
