    Abstract: A pyrometric sheath in which, in order to, inter alia enhance the response time of the protected temperature sensor, a partition of relatively high thermal conductance is hermetically bonded to the surrounds of an opening in a thermally insulating body. In a preferred arrangement, a thin metal foil partition is chemically bonded to an insulating tube of a refractory oxide ceramic.
