  • Patent number: 4724554
Abstract: A patient treatment table for supporting a patient laying in a generally horizontal position for treatment at an elevated level above the floor surface includes a base adapted to rest on the floor surface for supporting the table for movement between a first position for patient treatment and a second position for mounting and dismounting. The table includes a control system for moving the table between said positions having an electric motor and/or electrically activated hydraulic control valves and a safety system for deenergizing the electric motor and/or deactivating the control valves in response to a hazardous condition. The system includes a switch mat positioned on the floor surface adjacent the base which is operative to deenergize the electric motor and/or deactivate the control valves in response to pressure applied to the switch mat.

  • Patent number: 4722328
Abstract: A table for supporting a patient lying in a generally horizontal position for chiropractic manipulation includes a base projecting upwardly from the floor to a convenient working level and a pivotally mounted thoracic support section for supporting the thorax of the patient which is adjustable about an axis generally corresponding to the patient's spinal axis. The table includes a caudal section supportively connected to the base with ball joints permitting movement of the patient's legs in lateral caudal flexion from side to side about a generally vertical yaw axis and flexion movement about a laterally extending horizontal pitch axis in a vertical direction between upwardly sloping and downwardly sloping positions. A support cushion is mounted for rotation on the caudal section between a range of selected rotational positions about a longitudinal roll axis to accomplish caudal rotation of the patient. A leaf spring and adjustment assembly compensate for a patient's weight.

  • Patent number: 4660817
Abstract: A multi-step control apparatus is provided for raising and lowering a patient treatment table in response to predetermined successive motions of the foot of an operator. An operating rod mounted transversely of the table has a foot pedal on each end thereof and is biased to a mid position both longitudinally and rotationally. In response to inward pressure on either foot pedal a timing cycle is initiated during which the doctor may then initiate a raising or lowering cycle for the table by stepping on one side or the other of the foot pedal and rotating the operating rod out of a neutral rotational position. However, a raising or lowering cycle cannot be initiated without first moving the operating rod inwardly to initiate the timing cycle so that accidental or inadvertent raising or lowering of the table by simply rotating the foot pedal is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4660549
Abstract: An adjustable head support for a chiropractic table includes a base with a platen spaced above the base and interconnected for angular displacement relative to the base about an axis longitudinally thereof. An adjustable control system is provided for selectively controlling the amount of angular displacement between the base and the platen. The axis of rotational displacement of the platen is spaced above a head cushion supported above the platen and the axis generally coincides with the spinal column or vertabrae of a patient resting on the chiropractic table.

  • Patent number: 4648389
Abstract: A patient treatment table includes a base and a patient supporting table mounted for pivotal movement relative to the base between a first generally horizontal position supporting a patient at a convenient level for treatment and a second generally upstanding position for facilitating a patient in mounting and dismounting. The table includes a footboard at the foot end of the table which is positioned in a generally horizontal position near the surface of the floor, to assist a patient in mounting and dismounting, when the table is in the upstanding position.

  • Patent number: 4520800
Abstract: A patient treatment table includes a table frame, a hip board fixedly secured to said frame and a head board fixedly secured to said frame and spaced from said hip board. A transparent flexible arch member, of such thickness that it can maintain an adjustable height position under the patient's weight without requiring edge reinforcement, is pivotally mounted to said frame adjacent to and below the top surface of said head board and a slide member extending across the table beneath the edge of said hip board provides a pivotal support for the other end of said arch member. Said slide member may be adjusted relative to said hip board by means of an enclosed, motor driven lead screw actuator to bow said arch member upwardly from a minimum height position in which the top surface of the arch member is substantially the same as the upper surfaces of said head and hip boards.
