  • Patent number: 5544770
Abstract: A tamper evident seal and system for use on a variety of container and closure combinations providing a seal across the juncture of the container and closure or across the container opening and positive indication to consumers of tampering with the seal. The seal system comprises the combination of indicia specifically placed on the container and a seal means in the form of a heat shrink band or a foil sheet applied to the container in a manner so as to temporarily obscure the indicia. In a first embodiment the indicia is applied to the container in an area below the neck and the seal means comprises an opaque band adhered to the container and closure over the juncture of thereof and over the indicia. In a second embodiment, the indicia is applied to the lip around the container mouth and the seal means comprises a foil sheet adhered to the lip and covering the mouth.

  • Patent number: 5292018
Abstract: A tamper evident seal and system for use on a variety of container and closure combinations providing a seal across the juncture of the container and closure and positive indication to consumers of tampering with the seal. The seal comprises a heat shrink band to which is applied at least one strip of a heat activated adhesive extending perpendicularly to the band's circumference and along the full length of the band. Perforations are provided along either edge to permit separation of the majority of the band from that portion to which the adhesive is applied. Indicia are provided on the band and on the container to indicate the presence or absence of the band. Application of the band to the container by heating causes the band to shrink into tight conformance with the container and closure obscuring the indicia thereon and bringing the adhesive into engagement with the container and closure.

  • Patent number: 4877143
Abstract: A tamper evident indicating means for a vacuum packed package or bottle comprising an indicia printed seal that is separated from a translucent closure member when the package or bottle is under vacuum so that the indicia is not readable or discernible through the closure member, but when the vacuum is lost, as through tampering, the seal contacts the closure and the indicia printed thereon is readable or discernible to warn of possible tampering.
