  • Patent number: 7237985
Abstract: A cutting plate for rotating tools includes a major cutting edge connected to a minor cutting edge in a radial extension thereof over a cutting corner. A common face joins a longitudinal side of the major cutting edge and the minor cutting edge, while a major flank or a minor flank joins the other side of the major and minor cutting edges. The flank face form a wedge angle The tool is supported on a boring wall with low friction to enable vibration-free machining. A support land near the minor cutting edge has two interspaced support edges. The support edges have the same radial distance from the tool axis over their entire length. The support edges are oriented parallel to the tool axis and the support land has a flat surface parallel to the tool axis.

  • Patent number: 7201542
Abstract: A solid drill bit for machine tools. has a bit body and two movable inserts located a radial distance apart in insert seats of the bit body. The inserts have a rectangular or quadratic contour, project axially over the bit body with their major cutting edges and overlap in their working area. The outer movable insert projects radially beyond the periphery of the bit body with its outer cutting edge corner and with the adjoining minor cutting edge. Starting from the cutting edge corner, the minor cutting edge is inclined in the direction of the bit body at a setting angle of less than 3.2 °. The minor cutting edge has a guiding edge that is slidingly supported against the wall of the bore over at least part of its length due to a radially outwardly oriented thrust force.

  • Patent number: 7192224
Abstract: A double or multiple-edged drilling tool has a base body rotatable about a drilling axis, and at least two plate seats arranged on the front face for accommodating identical interchangeable cutting plates. The cutting plates each have a machining face, and a clearance face adjoining a principal cutting edge forming a cutting wedge, and a seat face facing away from the clearance face. A guiding land adjoins radially outwardly through each edge the machining face, the clearance face and optically the seat face. The cutting plates each have a hole for a retaining screw which is screwed into a threaded bore at the front face of the base body. The holes are aligned with their axis perpendicular to the clearance face of the associated cutting plates the threaded bores are aligned inclined to the drilling axis and inclined to each other in the base body.

  • Publication number: 20040028491
Abstract: The invention relates to a double or multiple-edged drilling tool. The drilling tool has a base body (14) which is rotatable about a drilling axis (36), and on which are arranged on the front face at least two plate seats (16) for accommodating identical interchangeable cutting plates (20). The interchangeable cutting plates each have a machining face (30) and a clearance face (24) adjoining a principal cutting edge (28) forming a cutting wedge, and a seat face (26) facing away from the clearance face. A guiding land (34) is furthermore provided, which guiding land adjoins radially outwardly through each edge the machining face (30), the clearance face (24) and optically the seat face (26), and with which land (34) is supported the guiding of the drilling tool into the drill hole.

  • Publication number: 20030180109
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting plate for tools rotating about a tool axis, especially boring tools with several cutting edges. Said cutting plate comprises a major cutting edge (26) which is connected to the minor cutting edge (32) in the radial extension thereof over a cutting corner (30) at a certain angle. A common face (38) is joined to a longitudinal side of the major cutting edge (26) and the minor cutting edge (32), while a major flank (40) or a minor flank (42) is joined to the other longitudinal side of the major cutting edge (26) and the minor cutting edge (32), said flank forming a wedge angle with said face. The aim of the invention is to be able to support the tool on the boring wall (36) with low friction in order to enable extensively vibration-free machining to be carried out even with long projecting tools.

  • Publication number: 20030161696
Abstract: The invention relates to a solid drill bit for machine tools. Said first bit has a bit body (10) and two movable inserts (20,22) which are located a radial distance apart, each in an insert seat (16,18) of the bit body (10), in the area of a chip-conveying channel (12,14). The moveable inserts (20,22) have a rectangular or quadratic contour, project axially over the bit body (10) with their front-end main blades (30,34) and overlap each other radially in their working area. The radially outer movable insert (22) projects radially beyond the periphery of the bit body (10) with its outer tool corner (36) and with its adjoining secondary blade (38), which is perpendicular to the corresponding main blade (34). Starting from the tool corner (36), the longitudinal extension of the secondary blade (38) concerned is inclined in the direction of the bit body (10) at a defined setting angle of less than 3.2°.
