  • Patent number: 4597507
Abstract: An apparatus for metering and feeding a solution is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a container, an inlet valve for feeding a solution into such container, and an outlet valve for allowing the solution fed into the container to flow out of the container when operated. A chamber located in the lower part of the container traps air during filing of the container at a pressure which corresponds to the hydrostatic head of solution in the container. A pressure transducer connected to the chamber provides an output signal proportional to the volume of solution in the container. A control device responsive to the output of the transducer closes the inlet valve when the predetermined volume of solution is reached and opens the outlet valve to allow discharge of the solution to the chemical process or other utilizing systems.

  • Patent number: 4307609
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring the density of a liquid or of a suspension of solids in a liquid is disclosed. The apparatus comprises two pressure sensors adapted to be mounted in the liquid so that the two sensors are vertically at predetermined levels apart, a differential pressure transducer, and proper tubings including a differential pressure zeroing device interconnecting the pressure sensors to the differential pressure transducer, for providing an output proportional to the density of the liquid which is compensated for the differential pressure caused by the differential neight of said pressure sensors in the liquid. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the differential pressure zeroing device is a pair of U-tubes filled with liquid and the tubings comprise gas filled tubings interconnecting one branch of each U-tube to respective pressure sensors and the other branch of each U-tube to the differential pressure transducer.

  • Patent number: 4136567
Abstract: A device for measuring the density of a liquid or of a suspension of solids in a liquid comprises a holder of predetermined length, two pressure sensors mounted at one end of the holder and adapted to be submerged so that the two sensors are vertically at predetermined levels apart in the liquid, and a differential pressure transducer also mounted on the holder and coupled to the pressure sensors for providing an output voltage proportional to the pressure differential sensed by the pressure sensors.

  • Patent number: 4133546
Abstract: The present invention relates to a coasting vehicle which is adapted to be steered. The vehicle includes a pair of parallel platforms adapted to rotate or tilt about parallel axes, the platforms being coupled together such that the planes of the platforms remain parallel to each other through said longitudinal axes throughout any pivoted position of the platform. Wheels are mounted outboard of the platform, fore and aft thereof, and are adapted to be steered by the pivoting movement of the platform.

  • Patent number: 4059016
Abstract: A froth level monitor is disclosed. The froth level monitor comprises a plurality of electrically conductive electrodes spaced in the vertical direction and adapted to contact the top of the froth in sequence as the level of the froth rises, a constant current source connected to each electrode and capable of generating a constant current when its associated electrode is in contact with the froth, and a summing and time averaging current to voltage converter connected to the output of all the constant current sources for summing up all the currents as an indication of the number of electrodes in contact with the froth and for averaging with respect to time the variations in froth level so as to provide an indication of the mean level of the froth.

  • Patent number: 3968696
Abstract: A novel device is disclosed for taking samples of slurries of ground ore or minerals in water, or any suspension of particulate materials in liquid with no restriction on the particulate material content of the sample. The device comprises a container provided with movable end closures, such container being attached to a holder of suitable length to enable it to be immersed to the required depth into a body of slurry or liquid. Means are associated with the holder for tightly closing the end closures and for opening at least one of such end closures. The device may further be provided with an apparatus for measuring in situ desired chemical or physical properties of such sample.
