  • Patent number: 6856244
Abstract: An identification device for retrofitting a child seat is provided for detecting the child seat on a vehicle seat in a motor vehicle by means of a child seat detection device. A transceiver component, connected to a control and evaluation device, for transmitting an electromagnetic transmission signal and for receiving an electromagnetic reception signal, is arranged as part the child seat detection device in the vehicle seat or in the direct vicinity of the vehicle seat. The reception of the transmission signal in the identification device causes transmission of the reception signal. The identification device has external wiring. By means of a defined mechanical manipulation which brings about a defined change in the external wiring, the identification device can be changed from an inactive initial state to an active state.

  • Publication number: 20040216939
Abstract: The invention relates to an occupant restraining system in a motor vehicle, having a seatbelt and a belt force limiting device, in which the restraining force level can be changed by a control signal. According to the invention, the belt force limiting device (16) is switched by a control signal from a lower restraining force level to a higher restraining force level when a risk-determining stage (12) determines that there is a risk to the occupant in the form of a possible impact of the occupant against a vehicle interior component located in front of him.

  • Patent number: 6693521
Abstract: A sensor device (11) which can be attached at at least two different installation locations in a motor vehicle (10) by at least one attachment device and which has a data output. The sensor device (11) is installed at a predefined installation location in the motor vehicle (10) by attachment to at least one predefined attachment point (13), the attachment point (13) being characteristic of the installation location in such a way that the attachment to the one predefined attachment point (13) generates a predefined electrical effect, and the sensor device (11) is installed at another predefined installation location in the motor vehicle (10) by attachment to at least one other predefined attachment point (14), the attachment to the other predefined attachment point (14) generates a different predefined electrical effect. It is possible to determine the actual installation location of the sensor device (11) by sensing the generated electrical effect.

  • Patent number: 6347807
Abstract: In order to tighten a side air bag in the gas-filled condition, viewed in the driving direction, this side air bag is held on its forward air bag portion by way of a catch string and, on the rearward air bag portion, by way of a tightening string on respective columns of the vehicle occupant compartment. The tightening string is guided by way of a first stationary deflection member provided in the lateral roof edge area as well as around a second deflection member provided on the side air bag in it lower edge area, which second deflection member is situated between the two fastening points of the tightening string, on the one side, on a column of the vehicle occupant compartment and, on the other side, on the side air bag.

  • Patent number: 6345840
Abstract: Vehicle seat having a seat face element and adjustable backrest element. A vehicle seat having a seat face element with a pressure-sensitive seat occupation sensor system, and having a backrest element which can be adjusted between a backrest function position and a lowered position resting on the seat face element. A backrest position sensor system is provided which detects whether the backrest element assumes the lowered position, and in this case outputs a lowered position information item.
