  • Publication number: 20060265068
Abstract: An intervertebral implant for separating an upper vertebra and a lower vertebra. The implant includes an upper mount having a first surface sized and shaped for mounting on the upper vertebra and a second surface opposite the first surface. The implant includes a lower mount having a first surface sized and shaped for mounting on the lower vertebra and a second surface opposite the first surface. The implant includes an element positioned between the upper mount and the lower mount spacing the first surface of the upper mount from the first surface of the lower mount by a predetermined distance. The element is configured to permit the upper mount to pivot relative to the lower mount. The element allows the upper vertebra to pivot relative to the lower vertebra while maintaining spacing between the upper vertebra and the lower vertebra.

  • Publication number: 20050216004
Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to a method and system for dynamic spinal fixation for the correction of spinal deformities, and more specifically pertains to a method and system permitting a correction of spinal deformity without rigid fixation of the vertebral bodies. The embodiments are useful in correcting spinal deformities, including all types of scoliosis or other misalignments affecting the vertebral column. The positioning of devices and elements permits a gradual correction of a three dimensional spinal deformity through operative intervention and/or the natural growth of the vertebrae and spinal column.

  • Patent number: 6916003
Abstract: Disclosed is a directional control valve comprising a front-side connector and at least one radial connector, wherein the front faces of a valve body (valve shift or seat body) of the directional control valve are pressurized approximately equally, so that the actuating forces for shifting the valve body are minimal. In accordance with the invention, the pressure for pressurizing a rearward front face of the valve body is tapped at an axial distance to the valve body.

  • Publication number: 20050075643
Abstract: Instruments for inserting an implant in a space between adjacent bony portions include a pair of parallel guide members extending distally from a proximal frame portion. Tamps and impaction instruments facilitate advancement of the implant between the guide members to the space between the adjacent bony portions.

  • Publication number: 20050033425
Abstract: A device for supporting adjacent bony portions includes a body having a first end and an opposite second end. The body is positionable in a space between the adjacent bony portions with the first and second ends oriented toward respective ones of the adjacent bony portions. At least one of the first and second ends includes bone engaging surfaces. An end member substantially covers the bone engaging surfaces with a bio-absorbable material on at least one end of the body. The end member providing a smooth surface profile to facilitate insertion of the body in the space between the adjacent bony portions.

  • Publication number: 20040032162
Abstract: The invention relates to a motor vehicle comprising a compressed-air braking system. Said vehicle has two braking cylinders, which can be impinged by compressed-air from a compressed-air reserve by means of a manually actuated brake valve. The braking cylinders have ABS pressure-control valves, which can be selectively impinged by compressed air from the compressed-air reserve, using a slip control valve. A stability sensor detects a motor vehicle position and a control device selectively supplies the slip control valve and the ABS pressure-control valves with compressed air, in accordance with the signals of the stability sensor.

  • Patent number: 5961845
Abstract: A dispenser system for treating water containing systems in place with a dry chemical substance. The dispenser has a water soluble pouch housing a dry form of a chemical material to be used in treating the system. The pouch is positioned in a make down unit so that the chemical is dissolved to form a liquid concentrate which is then introduced into a water containing system. A controller is attached to the make down unit to regulate the flow of water into the apparatus and the flow of liquid concentrate out of the apparatus and into the water containing system.

  • Patent number: 5410829
Abstract: A display arrangement comprises a dancing body torso of plastics material. The lower and upper display halves of the torso are spaced apart. The upper display half is pivotally supported by a support carried by the lower display half. A motor secured to the support is coupled to the upper display half to cause it to oscillate about is pivotal axis. A support bracket secured to the support and the lower display half has a pair of feet which can be secured to a ground engaging member.

  • Patent number: 4028663
Abstract: A data processing arrangement is disclosed including a central processing unit, a plurality of peripheral units coupled to a peripheral bus, a memory access controller, a first memory bus, and a second memory bus. The first memory bus serves a first plurality of memory units and the second memory bus serves a second plurality of memory units. The memory access controller selects which of the peripheral units may use the peripheral bus to access a memory bus during a particular time interval. If use of a particular memory bus is requested by a peripheral unit for an interval in which that memory bus is required by the central processing unit, the memory access controller preempts the usage of that memory bus by the peripheral unit for the interval.
