  • Patent number: 6727375
Abstract: An apparatus for continuously preparing substantially halogen-free, in particular chlorine-free, trialkoxysilanes of the general formula I (RO)3SiH  (I) in which R is an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, has a main reactor unit (1), at least one metering unit (2, 3, 4) for liquids and/or suspensions, located upstream of the main reactor, and at least one metering unit (5) for gaseous and/or vaporous substances, and also a product workup unit (6) located downstream of the main reactor. A process for preparing substantially halogen-free trialkoxysilanes of the general formula I in which silicon is reacted with alcohols in an inert solvent utilizes at least one organocopper compound catalyst.

  • Patent number: 5929269
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing organosilicon compounds which contain at least one H.sub.2 C.dbd.CH--Si-group, by reacting an organosilicon compound which contains at least one H--Si-group with acetylene in a gas/liquid phase in the presence of at least one addition catalyst and extracting the organosilicon compound which contains at least one H.sub.2 C.dbd.H--Si-group from the reaction mixture, wherein an organosilicon compound which contains at least one H--Si-group, the acetylene, which is used in stoichiometric excess, and a substantially inert liquid phase is brought into very intimate contact in a jet tube loop reactor in the presence of a catalyst, and the organosilicon compound which contains at least one H.sub.2 C.dbd.CH--Si-group is subsequently extracted from the reaction mixture and the excess acetylene is recycled into the process.

  • Patent number: 5869736
Abstract: A process is provided for the oxidation of p-xylene and methyl p-tolulate with oxygen-containing gases in the Witten-Hercules process for preparing dimetyl terephthalate in at least two sequentially arranged stages and in the presence of a catalyst, wherein the process involves oxidizing p-xylene and methyl p-toluate with oxygen containing gases in at least two sequential stages in the presence of a catalyst, wherein the at least two sequential stages include at least one p-xylene rich stage and at least one methyl p-toluate rich stage, wherein at least one of the following steps (a) and (b) occurs:(a) in the at least one p-xylene rich stage at least a portion of p-xylene present is oxidized in the presence of 5 to 30% by mass of methyl p-toluate, based on a total amount of oxidation mixture in the at least one p-xylene rich stage; or(b) in the methyl p-toluate rich stage at least one of methyl p-toluate or p-toluic acid is oxidized in the presence of 2 to 30% by mass of p-xylene, based on a total amount of m
