  • Patent number: 7082466
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for accessing a service platform via an Internet browser session, as well as to a servlet, a service unit and an applet for performing the method. The method is made up of a number of steps. The first step is installing the servlet at a web-server of a content provider having access to this service platform. When a user then tries to use a service of this service platform, the servlet detects whether or not said browser session is already associated to a related service session. If the browser session is already associated to this related service session, it performs predetermined actions related to the service session, such as charging. If the browser session is not associated to the related service session, it returns a web page containing the applet to guide an associated browser of the user through a logon process for the related service session. In the end the user may access the service session via the browser session.

  • Patent number: 6799216
Abstract: A system for managing Internet connections routed across an internet communications network comprising two or more domains. Each domain is provided with a domain manager and with one or more domain boundary controller(s). To assure the service quality of Internet connections, the domain manager communicates with the domain boundary controllers of the domain to which it is assigned and, by transferring service parameters, authorizes these domain boundary controllers to establish and maintain special Internet connections under special conditions across the boundary of the domain into the domain. The domain boundary controllers monitor the establishment of internet connections across the boundary of their particular domain into their particular domain and permit the establishment and maintenance of internet connections across the boundary of their domain into their domain only for those special internet connections, and under those special conditions.

  • Patent number: 6704849
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for backing-up data stored on storage means (MEMA1, MEMA2, MEMA3) of a data processing device (TERA). The invention further relates to a data processing device (TERA), a service provision server (SM), a back-up server (BA1) and a respective program module for a data processing device, for a service provision server and for a back-up server for the backing-up of data. Following the determination of the data in the storage means (MEMA1, MEMA2, MEAM3) which are to be backed-up, a first connection (VA, VBA1) between the data processing device (TERA) and a first back-up server (BA1) spatially remote from the data processing device (TERA) and at least one second connection (VA, VBA2) between the data processing device (TERA) and at least one second back-up server (BA2) spatially remote from the data processing device (TERA) are established via a telecommunications network (NET).

  • Publication number: 20030191834
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for managing internet connections routed across an internet communications network comprising two or more domains (21 to 23). Each domain (21 to 23) is provided with a domain manager (12) assigned thereto for managing the service quality of internet connections within the particular domain (22) and with one or more domain boundary controller(s) (41, 42) for monitoring the domain boundary of the particular domain (22). To assure the service quality of internet connections, the domain manager (12) communicates with the domain boundary controllers (41, 42) of the particular domain (22) to which it is assigned and, by transferring service parameters, authorises these domain boundary controllers (41, 42) to establish and maintain special internet connections under special conditions across the boundary of the domain (22) into the domain.

  • Publication number: 20030061393
Abstract: Interconnection means in networks are tagged with machine accessible information tags. Relevant information related to the interconnection means (including identification means) is stored and maintained in the corresponding tags. Field technicians have a device to read, write, or update this information. Some of the said machine accessible information tags are attached to the termination point of said interconnection means. This type of tag is typically connected to and disconnected from the tag interface of the network node when the associated termination point is connected and disconnected from the network node. The network node will detect such an event and is able to read, write and update the information residing in the machine accessible information tag while it is connected. A network management system connected to the network nodes can correlate the different termination points of the same interconnection means and hence discover and maintain an accurate view of the network topology.
