Patent number: 7086659Abstract: A system for routing an elongated line of an over the highway tractor having a connector for powering a component of a trailer. An elongated line, such as an electrical cable or an air hose, has a first mating connector that mates with a connector on the tractor that provides access to a source of air under pressure or electrical energy. The elongated line also includes a second mating connector that mates with a connector on a trailer. First and second releasable hooks are connected to the elongated line along the length of the line. The first and second hooks are secured to mounting points on the tractor to properly route the cable when the second connector is connected to the trailer and when the second connector is not connected to the trailer.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2005Date of Patent: August 8, 2006Assignee: Volvo Trucks North America, Inc.Inventor: Frank T. Baginski

Patent number: 6572146Abstract: An over the highway heavy duty vehicle in the form of a selected one of a truck and a tractor is disclosed. The vehicle has a frame rail having a through aperture. A conductive solder ring is bonded to the rail and surrounds the aperture. A fastener extends through the aperture to secure an electrical connector in electrically conductive engagement with the ring. A ground cable is connected to the connector. A process for forming the ring is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2002Date of Patent: June 3, 2003Assignee: Volvo Trucks North America, Inc.Inventor: Frank T. Baginski

Patent number: 5941483Abstract: A clamp having two like members for securing service lines and cables to the frame of a motor vehicle. Service lines are secured between the members. The members are fixed together by a nut and bolt with each held in an associated member recess by an associated tension tab. The tension tabs permit any nut and bolt within a range of sizes to be used. At least one of the members has an external saddle formed in a surface which is an external surface when the clamp is in use. The saddle is used to carry additional service lines held in place by a self sizing tie.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1998Date of Patent: August 24, 1999Assignee: Volvo Trucks North America, Inc.Inventor: Frank T. Patent number: 5730399Abstract: A mount assembly provides for the mounting of service lines of a variety of types and sizes to a support structure, such as a frame rail for an over-the-highway truck or tractor, with relative ease. The mount assembly includes a mount having a saddle for securing the service line to the mount with a self-sizing tie and having a latch for securing the mount to the support structure. The strap of another tie may be inserted through an opening of the support structure and through an opening of the latch such that a ratchet positioned in relation to the latch opening engages at least one of a plurality of sloping teeth of the strap. A spacer of the mount provides a clearance area for the service line from the support structure so as to minimize or avoid any gathering of debris between the service line and the support structure and therefore minimize or avoid any chafing or corrosion of the service line or of the support structure.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1996Date of Patent: March 24, 1998Assignee: Volvo GM Heavy Truck CorporationInventor: Frank T.
