  • Patent number: 10354553
Abstract: Example embodiments relate to providing exploration maps for visualizing enterprise product knowledge. In example embodiments, a system obtains a software exploration map including feature areas, where each feature area is associated with activities and a grouping of features in a software product. At this stage, the system may detect completion of an activity by a user of the software product. The system may then modify a knowledge level of the user in the feature area based on the completion of the activity.

  • Publication number: 20180124196
Abstract: In some examples an Outbound Proxy Server (OPS) of a server internal to a firewall receives an inbound service request for a particular service from a Reverse Channel Proxy (RCP) server external to the firewall through an outbound connection across the firewall. The particular service is internal to the firewall. The firewall is to enable entities internal to the firewall to originate connections across the firewall to entities external to the firewall and to block connections originating from entities external to the firewall. The OPS creates a connection for sending data to a corresponding remote server internal to the firewall storing the particular service. The OPS also forwards the inbound service request to the particular service through the created connection.

  • Publication number: 20170185468
Abstract: In some examples, a system determines that plural occurrences of a particular pattern of event types are present in a collection of events, the particular pattern of event types including a first event of a first event type and a second event of a second event type. The system determines that a number of the plural occurrences exceeds a predefined threshold, and in response, creates a correlation rule correlating the first event type and the second event type. The system determines, the correlation rule, a cause of a symptom event in the IT infrastructure.

  • Patent number: 8464279
Abstract: A system is provided for dynamically identifying and correlating network domain events. The system includes a network domain and a plurality of managed objects in the network domain. A management server is in communication with the managed objects. The management server can receive domain events from at least one of the managed objects. A management module on the management server maintains a topology of managed objects in the network domain. A rule knowledge base is in communication with the management server. The rule knowledge base includes correlation rules for identifying and correlating domain events. A correlation module utilizes a processor to correlate the domain events with the topology using the correlation rules to identify an interaction between the managed objects and the domain events.

  • Publication number: 20110012902
Abstract: An exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides a method for visualizing the performance of a system. The method includes generating a topological map of an application environment from a configuration management database (CMDB), wherein the topological map comprises a plurality of configuration items (CIs). A selection of configuration items (CIs) is made from the plurality of CIs. The definition of one or more performance graph(s) for the CIs is obtained from an operational database, wherein the performance graphs are configured to simultaneously show performance metrics for the CI and related CIs. Performance data for the CI and the related CIs are accessed and the performance graph is generated from the data.

  • Patent number: 7099938
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for monitoring services of an information technology (IT) environment. The method comprises evaluating, by a status engine, the status of a service (superordinate service) that depends on at least one of the statuses of one or more other services (subordinate services) and one or more messages. The messages come from services of the IT environment and affect the status of the superordinate service. The evaluation is performed according to one or more rules. The rules include at least one of: a) a rule that is based on additional attributes of the service other than the status; b) a rule that ignores subordinate services; c) a rule that is defined by a user on the basis of at least one of i) logical and ii) arithmetical operations of the status of subordinate services or of said messages or of said attributes; and d) a rule that is programmed individually by a user.

  • Publication number: 20030126240
Abstract: Monitoring is performed of objects within an IT network having monitored nodes, at least one of which is a high-availability cluster having first and second cluster nodes. When a failover condition is detected for a cluster package at the first cluster node, a failover to the second cluster node is initiated. A monitoring agent system includes first and second agents associated with the first and second cluster nodes, respectively. The monitoring agent system monitors events relating to the cluster package and generates event-related messages. The agents receive information indicating whether the cluster package is currently active on the associated cluster node. Depending on the received information, the message generation relating to the cluster package is activated in the one of the agents which is associated with the cluster node on which the cluster package is currently active and is deactivated in the other one.
