  • Patent number: 6442810
Abstract: Improvements in hydroenhancement efficiency are obtained by operating a manifold in relative movement to fabric transported under the manifold so as to deliver a low energy to the fabric per pass in multiple passes on the fabric. This results in greater enhancement efficiency and reduction in wasted energy, and also improves fabric coverage and reduces fabric shrinkage. The low-energy-per-pass, multiple-pass approach can be implemented with improved hydroenhancing equipment of reduced equipment size and cost which simulate multiple passes on the fabric. In one embodiment, a jigging hydroenhancing equipment transports the fabric back and forth under a stationary manifold between a pair of unwind/windup reels to simulate multiple passes on the fabric. Other embodiments employ a manifold or manifold system that is reciprocated, oscillated, or rotated to simulate multiple passes on the fabric. Other variations for improving hydroenhancement are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6445283
Abstract: Method for allocating a remote controller to a base station, having the following steps: emission of a search signal by the base station, reception of the search signal, comparison with a reference signal, and emission of a “present” signal by the actuation element if the search signal matches the reference signal. If no “present” signal arrives in response to a search signal, emission of a search signal by the base station is repeated after a repetition time has elapsed. Execution of the method is accomplished by way of a base station which has means for detecting the time Ts that has elapsed since emission of a search signal, and by way of a remote controller which switches from an idle state into an active state upon arrival of a search signal.

  • Patent number: 6445389
Abstract: A data structure for representing a general n-dimensional polygonal mesh. The data structure includes a structure record and a data record for each three dimensional shape. The structural record contains polygonal model connectivity information and further includes a stitching record that defines corresponding polygonal (triangular) mesh edge pairs and a polygonal (triangular) tree record representing a polygon (triangle) tree. The stitching record includes a vertex tree and a set of jump edges. The data record includes at least three polygonal records, each corresponding to a polygon. Each polygonal record is associated with a face of said polygonal model and classifies its corresponding polygon as either a leaf polygon, a running polygon or a branching polygon. Polygonal shapes are encoded into the data structure by first building a spanning tree for the polygonal mesh. A set of cut edges are derived for the polygonal mesh. The stitching record is constructed for the set of cut edges.

  • Patent number: 6445058
Abstract: A semiconductor process is disclosed which forms a field plate structure that integrally contacts an emitter region of a bipolar junction transistor by construction, without intervening interconnect layers or contacts. In one embodiment, a single-layer polysilicon electrode forms a field plate electrode which integrally interconnects to a traditional diffused emitter region formed before the polysilicon layer is deposited. This allows for deeper emitter regions required by the deep base regions needed for high-voltage bipolar devices. Moreover, the polysilicon layer, including the polysilicon electrode forming the field plate electrode, may be used as a local interconnect layer.

  • Patent number: 6444065
Abstract: Rotatable plastic rollers are produced by either injecting between a roller shaft and an outer running roller layer a thermoplastic material which, during cooling down, shrinks toward the roller shaft and away from the outer running roller layer on account of a contraction in volume or, in the multi-component injection-molding process, by first injecting the outer running roller layer and then injecting between the latter and the roller shaft a thermoplastic material which then likewise shrinks toward the roller shaft and away from the outer running roller layer. The process produces plastic rollers comprising an inner running roller layer (2), which is bonded solidly with the roller shaft (1), and an outer running roller layer (3), which can rotate freely with respect to said inner layer by means of a sliding gap (6). The roller shaft may optionally also be sheathed with a thermoplastic elastomer. This may take place in the same process during the multi-component injection molding.

  • Patent number: 6444400
Abstract: A method of making an electroconductive pattern on a support is disclosed. The support is provided with a polymer layer containing a polythiophene, a polyanion and a di- or polyhydroxy organic compound. Said layer is characterized by an initial surface resistivity (SRi) having a value which is higher than 104 &OHgr;/□, or more preferably higher than 106 &OHgr;/□. By heating selected areas of the polymer layer, the surface resistivity of these areas is reduced to SRi/&Dgr; wherein &Dgr; is at least 10, preferably at least 103 and more preferable at least 105. The electroconductive pattern thus obtained can be used as an electronic circuit for making an electric or semiconductor device such as a printed circuit board, an integrated circuit, a display, an electroluminescent device or a photovoltaic cell.

  • Patent number: 6445315
Abstract: Measurement data collected by isolated ADCs in multiple channels may be related. In such a scenario, data may be transmitted to a microcontroller or programmable logic device for centralized processing. Gain and offset of the ADCs in different channels, particularly their drift relative to one another, is an issue which requires attention. In particular, a pair of precision resistors is provided to calibrate the different channels. The ADCs may be factory calibrated and the ratio between the two precision resistors stored within the ADCs. The ADCs may later self-calibrate by comparing their relative gains to the stored resistor ratio. Gain of one of the ADCs may be adjusted relative to the other in order to maintain a relative gain calibration. Although absolute gain is not calibrated (as the resistors are isolated) for particular applications, only relative gain between the ADCs is relevant.

  • Patent number: 6443406
Abstract: In order to make it easier to mount for instance playground equipment comprising a tube construction which is anchored to a base the subject invention offers a simplification by incorporating a means to facilitate the longitudinal adjustment of the grooves in relation to the base. This means comprises a tube piece (2) extending in the tube (1), which tube piece is anchored to the base and which is configured with longitudinal folds for the formation of outwardly open channels (4). In these channels (4) a wedge element (3) is inserted which by means of bolts (6) through the tube (1) can tighten the wedge and due to the cross sectional shape of the grooves cause the tube piece (2) to expand so that it squeezes against the inside of the tube (1). In this manner the tube (1) can be adjusted in the longitudinal direction in connection with both the mounting and the subsequent adjustment.

  • Publication number: 20020118658
Abstract: For synchronization purposes, a transmitter (TX) multiplexes a pilot carrier with carriers whereon data elements (DATA) are modulated, and transmits the pilot carrier together with the modulated carriers to a receiver (RX). The immunity of the pilot carrier for interferers, such as radio amateur signals, is improved by modulating the pilot carrier with a non-constant signal, for instance a random signal, an alternating signal or even scrambled data elements (DATA), before transmission thereof. Since demodulation of the pilot carrier in the receiver (RX) and averaging successive demodulated pilot carriers reduces the effect of the interference induced on the non-constantly modulated pilot carrier, the degradation of the synchronization between transmitter (TX and receiver (RX) is reduced significantly.

  • Publication number: 20020117230
Abstract: The automated machine includes exchangeable spacing assemblies from which the positions of the various rollers, as well as the curve of the perforations in the stack(s) of sheets are determined for a spiraling a given coil size into the stack of sheets. Various sizes of spacing assemblies are provided to allow the operator to the binding machine to bind various sizes of coils into a stack of sheets by exchanging the spacing assemblies. Two support surfaces support the halves of thick books, the coil spiraling through stacks of sheets positioned on both support surfaces simultaneously. The stack(s) of sheets with a coil inserted therethrough drops to a crimping station when the rollers separate and the support surfaces pivot toward a vertical position. Once the crimping operation has been performed, an ejector ejects the book from the crimping station, and book exits the machine under the force of gravity.

  • Publication number: 20020117716
Abstract: A semiconductor device, full bridge converter employing the same, and methods of fabrication thereof are provided. The device includes a vertical MOSFET having a parasitic body diode at a junction face between a body region and a semiconductor layer thereof. The parasitic body diode is suppressed by having no direct electrical connection to the body region, resulting in the parasitic body diode being open-circuited within the MOSFET. Co-packaged with the MOSFET is a separate bypass diode connected across a source and a drain of the MOSFET. The bypass diode functions to clamp the voltage across the MOSFET without employing the parasitic, electrically isolated body diode of the MOSFET.
