  • Patent number: 6061602
Abstract: An interactive graphical application program combines a graphical command language and a control program to enable a user to graphically select and generate an automation sequence to control an automation application. A computer system stores a first program containing flow sequences and a set of controls representing possible hardware for use in the automation application. Structure is graphically displayed depicting each sequence step and transition to the next step in accordance with user selections. The first program is automatically linked with the controls to enable an application software program to be generated in response to user commands.

  • Patent number: 6061614
Abstract: A method and apparatus for communicating between a host and a motor vehicle, the motor vehicle including an on board computer system having a bus for communicating with a plurality of motor vehicle systems. The apparatus includes an electronic tag having a transceiver for transmitting data to and receiving data from the host, a memory for storing bus requests and bus response data, a decoder for decoding requests from the host, a bus interface for reading data from and writing data to the bus and a conroller. The bus interface for extracting responses from the bus responsive to requests from the host. The responses may be stored in the memory. • Patent number: 6058947
Abstract: A contamination monitoring system having a portable framework which carries a rinsing bath for detachable connection to a remote fluid source. A transport structure is mounted on the framework to accommodate transport of the system to and from the remote fluid source. The framework includes a chamber which encloses the rinsing bath to isolate it from the surrounding environment, typically using a filter which removes unwanted particles from air within the chamber. The filter also typically creates a vertical airflow within the chamber. In one embodiment, the system employs a rinsing bath with inner and outer tanks, the inner tank being configured to hold wafers to be rinsed and the outer tank being configured to hold the inner tank. An input port introduces fluid from the remote fluid source into the inner tank for overflow into the outer tank. The outer tank employs an output port for discharge of fluid received from the inner tank.

  • Patent number: 6058644
Abstract: A fish lure simulative of a live insect has a resilient push frame which on a deflection thereof by a cam engaging the push frame, flexes wing parts of the lure upwardly, a release of the cam engagement allowing a bias present in the deflected push frame to restore it to a rest position, the wing parts being flexed downwardly to a complete the wing oscillation during restoration travel of the push frame. Oscillations at different amplitudes also can be produced by using camming surfaces on the cam which have different cam throws.

  • Patent number: 6060828
Abstract: A radiation source, in particular a discharge lamp suitable for operating a dielectrically hindered pulsed discharge by means of a ballast, has at st one electrode separated by dielectric material from the inside of the discharge vessel. By appropriately designing at least one of the electrodes and/or the dielectric material, local field reinforcement areas are created, so that during the pulsed mode of operation one or more dielectrically hindered individual discharges are generated exclusively in these areas, maximum one individual discharge being generated in each area. These areas are obtained in particular by shortening the spacing in locally limited areas, for example by providing on one of the electrodes hemispherical projections which extend towards the counter-electrode. This measure achieves a timestable discharge structure with a high useful radiation effectiveness uniformly distributed throughout the discharge vessel.

  • Patent number: 6059245
Abstract: A water bottle cage for bicycles with pivoting bands that automatically capture and lock a water bottle upon insertion into the cage. The cage allows easy installation and removal of the water bottle using one hand. The cage has three components molded from a resilient, substantially rigid polymeric material including an elongated base portion with a half round band with a mating hinge at each end portion, a quarter round band with an extended curved leg at one end, a mating hinge generally in the middle and locking grooves at the other end, and a quarter round band with an extended curved leg at one end, a mating hinge generally in the middle and a locking member at the other end. The cage also includes two hinge pins and two torsion springs. The configuration allows the user to choose between a left or right side for the water bottle to be installed and removed.

  • Patent number: 6058184
Abstract: A hands-free adapter for a telephone is disclosed. The hands-free adapter includes a housing, a speaker and a microphone that may be electrically coupled to a telephone. The hands-free adapter couples to a cigarette lighter receptacle of a vehicle. This provides power to operate the speaker and the microphone. In addition, power is coupled to the telephone for operating the telephone and charging the telephones batteries. The hands-free adapter also includes an articulating cable for positioning the speaker and the microphone near a user. The microphone is disposed within a boom which is pivotally coupled to the housing such that the boom may be moved from a retracted position to a fully extended position. The microphone is automatically activated as it is moved out of the retracted position and is automatically deactivated as it is moved back into the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 6055764
Abstract: A surf casting system employing a specially designed bow and arrow and a reel which are capable of projecting a fishing line along with a leader line, hook and bait to distances greater than 100 yards, permitting fishing at distances from the shore that were heretofore generally unattainable with conventional equipment. The bow supports the reel which carries the fishing line. The axis of rotation of the reel is oriented parallel to the direction of flight of the arrow, enabling the line to spill off from the reel at the high speed of the arrow. A line damping system is employed to keep the line sufficiently taught and confined to preventing the tangling of the line as it is released from the reel. The damping system is designed to function without appreciably affecting the speed and distance of the arrow. The composition and density of the arrow is varied to permit either surface or bottom fishing.

  • Patent number: 6057011
Abstract: A high temperature and highly corrosive resistant structure and method of fabricating the structure. In one embodiment of the present invention, vacuum plasma spray or other materials deposition techniques are used to fabricate the structure on a removable support member in the form of a gradient or composite structure that sequentially consists of a 100% ceramic interior layer, a first transition layer of ceramic/refractory metal, a layer of 100% refractory metal, a second transition layer of ceramic/refractory metal, and an outer layer of 100% ceramic material. In a second embodiment, the ceramic/refractory metal/ceramic cartridge is formed without transition layers between the ceramic and metal layers. In another embodiment of the invention the structure is fabricated on a removable support member by depositing an outer layer of ceramic material on a refractory metal. No transition layers of ceramic material/refractory metals are used.

  • Patent number: 6056037
Abstract: A folding curtain wall acts as a large door in an exterior wall of a building such as a garden centre greenhouse. The door includes upper and lower bi-fold panels which are hinged to one another about a horizontal axis. The upper panel is hinged to the wall of the building above the opening to be closed by the door. The door can be opened and closed by raising or lowering the lower panel from its bottom edge. In the open position, the panels are folded generally flat against one another in an overhead position above the opening and effectively provide an awning above the opening. In the closed position, the door panels adopt a flat configuration or an outwardly angled configuration. In the latter case, spaces at the sides of the door are closed by fixed panels that extend outwardly from the wall of the building.
