  • Patent number: 10754714
Abstract: Methods and devices are provided relating to taking an action in response to determining that a person who is present in the vicinity of the device, such as a smart speaker, is not authorized to be present. In an aspect, the electronic device receives the notification and a topic identifier associated with the notification. Information identifying persons located in the vicinity of the electronic device may be received. The device may then receive and/or determine information identifying at least one person located within the vicinity who is not authorized, based on the topic identifier, to be present in the vicinity when the notification is to be outputted. The device generates an output signal indicating receipt of the notification and that there is at least one person present in the vicinity who is not authorized to be present when the notification is to be outputted.

  • Publication number: 20120296726
Abstract: A method and system include verifying credentials for gaining access to a central mobile payment controller using the portable computing device (“PCD”). The central mobile payment controller may receive a merchant identifier corresponding to a merchant and then it may compare the merchant identifier against loyalty account data stored in a database. The central mobile payment controller through a tender steering module may determine if a profile of the portable computing device is associated with a merchant branded payment account and/or with a merchant branded stored value account. The central mobile payment controller may produce a message that lists one or more preferred payment options in a ranked fashion that may favor a merchant based on interchange rates.

  • Patent number: 7673810
Abstract: A rail fastening clip is used with a rail clip support having a rail clip slot of the kind used in K plates. The rail clip is formed from a U shaped member made of metal plate having a base and two arms tapered from the base to their tips, with the arms being bent inwardly beyond the base in a large arc and the tips are bent back toward the base and oriented for contact with the foot of the rail. The base is adapted to fit in the K plate slot of the rail clip support. The base of the clip has a leading edge remote from the arms that contacts the upper interior surface of the support slot to form at least a line of contact with the upper interior surface of the slot. The line of contact is about 6 mm. The design overcomes the problem of rotation of the clip within the support slot and is a more cost effective clip than that currently used with K plates.

  • Patent number: 7158717
Abstract: An apparatus for altering a temperature state of a liquid within a container and method of use are disclosed. In one form, an apparatus includes an oval housing having a top portion, a bottom portion, and a middle portion having a front side and a rear side. The said top portion has a width and a depth. A plurality of cavities is positioned along the width and has substantially cylindrical openings. The cavities are sized to receive a portion of a liquid container. Heat generating electronics are housed within the housing. The heat generating electronics include a heat transfer element integrated as part of each cavity. The heat transfer element is operable to alter a temperature state of a cavity. A heat generator is mounted within the housing and is thermally coupled to the heat transfer element to collectively alter a temperature state of each of the cavities. A thermostat is operably coupled to the heat generator to alter the temperature state of each of the cavities.

  • Patent number: 7100837
Abstract: A rail seat which includes a) a rail tie b) a pair of rail fastening support shoulders mounted on said rail tie so that a rail can be held to the tie between said shoulders each shoulder having a a rail face and side portions on each side of said rail face extending away from the rail c) a rail pad adapted to lie on said tie between said shoulders which has a pair of projections extending parallel to the tie along side each side portion of each shoulder. The rail seat is adapted to be used with a deep post insulator and incorporates a rib on the support shoulder extending from each side portion against which a face of the rail pad projections abut to locate the pad in position to accommodate the post of the insulator. The rail pad projections are proportioned to prevent the pad from moving out of position under the creep load conditions present when rail cars pass over the rail seat.

  • Patent number: 6604690
Abstract: A concrete railroad tie is provided which utilises a tie 1 having a peripheral rib 5, 1 mm high, around the rail seat to contain adhesive 12 to bond a thick wear plate 8 to the tie. The surface of the tie is well below the top of the plate to reduce the penetration of abrasive materials between the rail pad 13 and the plate 8. This combination inhibits abrasion of the tie for the life of the tie.

  • Patent number: 4015677
Abstract: A patient weighing system for automatically providing a visual display of stantaneous patient weight includes a bed assembly for receiving the patient which is supported by weight responsive means producing analog signals as a function of instantaneous total weight. The analog signals are converted to commensurate digital signals. A first storage register stores the digital signal representative of the weight of the bed assembly without the patient. A second storage register stores the digital signals representative of the total weight of the bed assembly including the patient. A difference digital signal is developed which is representative of the difference between the digital signals stored in the first and second storage registers, providing a net or remainder digital signal which is a function of patient weight.
