  • Patent number: 5357742
Abstract: The hot core engine compartment of a turbojet engine is cooled by the metered flow of cooling air exhausted through a laminar flow nacelle system. This arrangement reduces the need for extracting bypass ram air from the engine performance cycle for cooling purposes and thereby improves specific fuel consumption and engine efficiency. A turbocompressor pump driven by bleed air from the core engine compressor draws cooling air through the laminar flow nacelle system and pumps the air into a manifold surrounding the core engine.

  • Patent number: 5285636
Abstract: An improved drain mast assembly for a gas turbine engine is connected to an outer surface of a nacelle of the engine and has a plurality of liquid drain lines terminating within the assembly. The assembly comprises a plurality of liquid collection chambers installed within the drain mast assembly with each of the chambers coupled in liquid receiving relationship with a respective one of the liquid drain lines. Each of the chambers collect drain liquid from a respective one of the drain lines. A valve extends from each chamber for selectively draining the collected liquid from each of the chambers for identifying drain lines having relatively high drain-rates. Each of the chambers is separately removable from the drain mast assembly in one form or all chambers may be simultaneously removed in another form of the invention. Each chamber further includes a transparent view window for visually determining a volume of liquid collected by the chamber.

  • Patent number: 5123242
Abstract: A precooling heat exchange arrangement includes a hollow fairing mounted on a forward side of an engine mounting structure extending radially across an annular fan duct of a gas turbine engine. The fairing has an aerodynamically-shaped external wall disposed in the main air-flow through the fan duct, spaced upper and lower internal plenums and a middle internal plenum disposed therebetween and sealed therefrom. A conduit routes hot bleed air flow from the engine to and from the lower and upper plenums of the fairing and at least one heat exchanger is mounted in the fairing.

  • Patent number: 4052073
Abstract: A blackjack play director having structure including normally deenergized indicator means adapted to be sensed by a player. A plurality of input switches are interconnected with indictor means for exclusive generation of one of four sensible play decisions in terms of a predetermined odds criteria to signal to the player a proper response by actuation of the indicator means in response to actuation of a first of the switches representative of the value of a dealer's up card and one or more of the switches to indicate the status of the player's first two cards.
