  • Patent number: 4742202
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for heating contained liquid, and more particula for thawing frozen blood components which are contained in a bag. The heating apparatus includes a microwave oven which has a cavity for receiving objects to be heated. A track is mounted in the oven cavity and has a peak and a valley with respect to the cavity floor. A tray is provided for supporting the liquid container. A device is provided for pivotally supporting the tray within the cavity with the tray in engagement with the track means, and a device is located within the oven for imparting relative motion between the tray and the track. With this arrangement the liquid container can be moved in a rocking motion to cause a mixing between the warm and cold portions of the liquid, and in particular with regard to frozen blood will cause the thawed liquid portions of the blood to flow over the still frozen portions so as to dissipate heat therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4255653
Abstract: A device for entering data into an automated data processing system. The a for entry into the system is prepared and selected on multiple checklists where each checklist has the same format but different specific data entries. On each checklist there is also a unique black-in area. The data entry terminal or device includes a transparent overlay for entry of the data into the system. The transparent overlay aligns with and is placed over the checklist from which the data to be entered is to be selected. The transparent overlay contains a first set of code numbers corresponding to each data entry and a second set of code numbers apart from the data entries. Due to the arrangement of the black-in area on each checklist, only one member of the second set of code numbers on the transparent overlay is readable or codeable since the remaining members of the second set of code numbers are obscured by the black-in area on the checklist beneath the transparent overlay.

  • Patent number: 4015677
Abstract: A patient weighing system for automatically providing a visual display of stantaneous patient weight includes a bed assembly for receiving the patient which is supported by weight responsive means producing analog signals as a function of instantaneous total weight. The analog signals are converted to commensurate digital signals. A first storage register stores the digital signal representative of the weight of the bed assembly without the patient. A second storage register stores the digital signals representative of the total weight of the bed assembly including the patient. A difference digital signal is developed which is representative of the difference between the digital signals stored in the first and second storage registers, providing a net or remainder digital signal which is a function of patient weight.
