  • Patent number: 5170102
Abstract: Picture display device comprising an in-line color display tube having an elongate display screen with a short axis and a long axis, which screen is provided on an inner surface, and a deflection system. The plane in which the undeflected electron beams are located is parallel to the short axis of the display screen. The deflection system comprises a first system of deflection coils for generating a substantially pincushion-shaped deflection field in the direction of the short axis of the display screen and a second system of deflection coils for generating a substantially barrel-shaped deflection field in the direction of the long axis of the display screen. The deflection system has terminals to be connected to a signal generator for scanning the display screen in a raster having a plurality of lines oriented along the short axis of the display screen.

  • Patent number: 5117151
Abstract: In-line color display tube with a deflection unit, provided with a twist correction device comprising two permanent magnets which generate magnetic fields with oppositely directed magnetic field components which, at the beginning and the end of a path traversed by each side beam, are transverse to the path of the relevant side beam and are located in the plane of the beams. This provides the possibility of deflecting each side beam once up and once down for compensating twist errors.

  • Patent number: 4922167
Abstract: Picture display device having a display tube (3) and a deflection unit (9) comprising a field deflection coil and a line deflection coil (11). To comply with a predetermined interference radiation standard, the picture display device comprises a first set of (horizontal) interference suppression coils 18, 19 arranged symmetrically relative to the plane of symmetry of the line deflection coil and a second set of (vertical) interference suppression coils 18a, 19a arranged at right angles to the plane of symmetry of the line deflection coil, which coils are oriented in such manner and in operation are energizable in such manner that, measured at a predetermined distance from the picture display device, at least the strength of the local magnetic dipole field is below a desired standard. Each coil of the second set preferably comprises at least two sub-coils arranged parallel to each other at a given distance in order to reduce the energy content of the coil system.

  • Patent number: 4857805
Abstract: Picture display device having a display tube and a deflection unit (9) comprising a field deflection coil and a line deflection coil (11). In order to comply with a predetermined interference radiation standard, the picture display device is provided with a compensation coil system having a first set of compensation coils (18, 19) for generating a dipole compensation field and possibly a second set of compensation coils (18a, 19a) for generating a fourpole compensation field, the compensation coil system being preferably arranged in series with the line deflection coil 11 ) and being provided with electric means (R; R.sub.1 ; R.sub.2 ; R.sub.3 ; R.sub.4) to shift the phase of the current through at least a part of the compensation coil system with respect to the phase of the current through the line deflection coil.
