  • Patent number: 7174246
Abstract: A method and system for regulating the torque transmitting capacity of a frictionally-engaged torque-transmitting assembly located in the drive train of a motor vehicle. The torque-transmitting assembly has an input and an output, the values of which, such as input torque and output torque, are detected by sensors. The torque values are subjected to a correlation calculation in which a correlation value is calculated. The difference value between the calculated correlation value and a predetermined correlation target value is determined. An adjustment value is determined to reduce the difference value if the difference value exceeds a preset threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20060154783
Abstract: A method for establishing malfunctions of components of a motor vehicle power train as well as the reaction to the same. The power train has a drive motor and an automatic transmission with respectively allocated control devices, setting apparatus and sensors, and the transmission input shaft is allocated a torque sensor for recording the transmission input shaft. During operation of the motor vehicle, the functions of the control devices, the operating elements, the sensors and their data transmission apparatus as well as the measured values of the transmission input torque are recorded and checked for signs of malfunction. After recognizing such a malfunction, operations are conducted by means of which the motor vehicle can be further operated in an emergency type of operation or with the aid of which the driving operation can be safely ended.

  • Publication number: 20060154781
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for operating an automatically actuated friction clutch and/or a transmission within the drive train, in which a torque sensor is assigned to the input shaft of the transmission. In order to improve the operation of such a drive train, it is provided according to the invention that the curve of the measured transmission input torque is determined and evaluated in order to determine the load properties of the friction clutch and/or the transmission.

  • Publication number: 20050277500
Abstract: The initial rotational speed of a conical disc flexible drive transmission is determined by measuring a wheel rotational speed and the gear ratio and by calculating the initial rotational speed therefrom. In order to ascertain the slipping of a CVT transmission, the rate of change in the ratio is drawn upon or an acoustic parameter of the transmission is used. In the fluid control system, a valve is used whose opening cross-section is controlled according to the one differential pressure. In order to oil the conical discs, injection holes of a injection tube are used that passes through a slot provided in a slide rail resting against a side of a flexible drive means of a conical disc flexible drive means.

  • Publication number: 20050227809
Abstract: A method for regulating or controlling the transmission ratio of an automatic power-branched transmission. Power is transmitted through a shaft driven by an engine, a variable speed drive, a gear transmission, a driven shaft, and at least two control clutches. The variable speed drive and the gear transmission are connected to each other in such a way that the regulating range of the variable speed drive is traversed in one direction within a first range of transmission ratios, and is traversed in the opposite direction within a second range of transmission ratios during traversing of the entire range of transmission ratios. The shifting strategies result in reduced wear of the endless belt device and allow for comfortable changing between the transmission ratio ranges.

  • Patent number: 6945907
Abstract: A target engine rotational speed depending at least upon the position of an accelerator pedal position and a motor vehicle speed is determined in a method for controlling the operation of a motor vehicle drive train having a drive motor and a branched power transmission with several steplessly adjustable transmission ratio regions, between which shifting takes place at a predetermined range shift transmission ratio. A transmission ratio corresponding to the target engine rotational speed and vehicle speed is determined and set, whereby the change with respect to time of the accelerator pedal position and/or the change with respect to time of the target engine rotational speed is used for determining the target engine rotational speed and is filtered when a difference between the actual transmission ratio and a transmission ratio shift range falls below a limit value.

  • Patent number: 6676561
Abstract: A torque transfer system of a motor vehicle has a clutch, a transmission, a control device, and a traction load detecting device. The traction load is the variable resistance that a vehicle has to overcome to start or to keep moving, e.g., going uphill or downhill, with a heavy or light load, with or without a trailer or a roof load. The control device controls the torque transfer system, in particular the clutch, dependent on input signals received from the traction load detecting device.

  • Patent number: 6460398
Abstract: In a mechanism where movement is transferred from one component to another by frictional contact and where the intensity of the frictional contact can be changed by altering the contact pressure, a method for determining the amount of slippage between the component parts uses a measurement of a value that corresponds to the power loss due to friction, also known as power dissipation, which occurs during the transfer of movement between the component parts. In this measurement, the level of power dissipation is determined in dependence on the contact pressure force, and an increase in the amount of the dissipated power that occurs when the contact pressure force decreases is interpreted as slip.
