    Abstract: For an internal-combustion engine in a V-arrangement, a crankcase has a parallelepiped-shaped construction with a rectangular cross-section. The base side of the crankcase corresponds approximately to the lateral projection in the area of the cylinder heads. In addition, the crankcase has at least one chamber. Preferably, several chambers are provided corresponding to the number of cylinders of the internal-combustion engine. These chambers point from the longitudinal side of the crankcase into the interior. Auxiliary assemblies, heat exchangers, filters and oil supply spaces are arranged in these chambers.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine, specially a diesel engine, comprising a crankcase and cylinder heads. Said system is provided with injectors to inject fuel into the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine and a high pressure pump which supplies fuel to a common rail supplying fuel to the injectors via high pressure lines. According to the invention, the common rail is lodged in or on the walls of the crankcase. This arrangement of the common rail track and preferably also that of the fuel injectors and the high pressure lines in the housing of the internal combustion engine optimally protects the fuel injection system from external influence and damages while at the same time hermetically closing it from the outside by forming an internal leakage chamber.

    Abstract: A cooling system for a supercharged internal-combustion engine has a high-temperature and a low-temperature circulating system, in which two charge air coolers, through which coolant of different temperature levels flows, are provided for cooling the charge air in two stages. The high-temperature circulating system comprises a main branch with the internal-combustion engine and a high-temperature recooler which is connected in series with it. So that the total quantity of coolant may be kept low and a high degree of heat exchange can be achieved while the arrangement of the pipes is simple, the coolant quantity flowing out of the secondary circulating system is admixed to a coolant flow leading to the internal-combustion engine, and the total coolant flow flowing out of the internal-combustion engine is then guided to the high-temperature recooler.

    Abstract: Ventilating and cooling arrangement for an engine compartment of a liquid-cooled internal combustion engine of the type having a radiator for recooling the engine coolant by means of ambient air. A ring radiator is provided which is housed in an air conducting housing which is separate from the engine compartment. The air conducting housing is configured to form two radiator exhaust air chambers at respective different peripheral circumferential positions along the radiator. A first of the exhaust air chambers communicates a portion of the exhaust air from the radiator directly to the engine compartment as engine compartment cooling and ventilation air. The other of the exhaust air chambers communicates the remaining portion of the exhaust air directly from the radiator to the surrounding atmosphere in bypassing relationship to the engine compartment.
