  • Patent number: 12183233
Abstract: An apparatus for displaying a virtual scene comprises a display wearable on a user's head and a graphics controller configured to calculate, from scene data representing the virtual scene, image data for the display such that the virtual scene is displayed in the environment irrespective of the head's position and pointing direction, the virtual scene appearing in the image data in a region of scene, wherein the graphics controller is configured to modulate excitation signals of a Lissajous scanning mirror assembly, which diverts the light beam of a light source, by modulation signals which are dependent on the region of scene.

  • Publication number: 20240428713
Abstract: A display apparatus comprises a light source configured to emit a light beam, a pulse generator configured to generate a pulse train, a buffer configured to store pixels of an image, a controller configured to modulate the pulse train according to the pixels and to drive the light source according to the modulated pulse train, a mirror assembly configured to oscillate and scan the light beam over an image area according to a scan pattern, and a mirror driver configured to drive the mirror assembly, the pulse generator being configured to receive a brightness signal and to generate the pulse train with a low/high pulse rate when the brightness signal indicates a low/high brightness. A method displays pixels of an image with a low/high pulse rate at a low/high brightness.

  • Publication number: 20240430456
Abstract: A method of generating a compressed data stream from an uncompressed data stream with red, green and blue sub-streams of red, green and blue colour values of an image, comprising, for each of a number of sub-interval which together form a time interval: Determining, in each sub-stream, at least N?1 sets of successive equal colour values and run-lengths indicating the numbers of colour values in the sets; and generating a data packet composed of one colour value from each set and their respective run-lengths; which data packet forms the compressed data stream for said time interval. Further disclosed is a projection system using this method.

  • Publication number: 20240428712
Abstract: A display apparatus comprises a light source configured to emit a light beam, a light source driver configured to drive the light source according to pixels of an image frame, a mirror assembly with one or more mirrors configured to oscillate and deflect the light beam according to a scan pattern, a mirror driver configured to drive the mirror assembly according to said scan pattern, a buffer configured to buffer pixels and feed, synchronised by the mirror driver one or more times, the buffered pixels successively to the light source driver, and a central processing unit configured to determine a sequence of pixels of the image frame to be successively displayed according to said scan pattern, and to transfer said sequence to the buffer.

  • Publication number: 20240430390
Abstract: A method of generating a pixel stream from an image comprised of pixels which each have a pixel value. The method comprising storing the image in a memory; determining, for each of successive sub-intervals, that pixel that is to be displayed by a light beam within said sub-interval; for each of successive sequences of one or more successive sub-intervals for which the same pixel has been determined: retrieving the pixel value of said pixel from the memory once and appending the retrieved pixel value N times to the pixel stream. Further disclosed is a projection system using this method.

  • Patent number: 11830396
Abstract: A display apparatus comprises a mirror oscillating about a first axis upon excitation by a first excitation signal and about a second axis upon excitation by a second excitation signal, a light source projecting a light beam onto the mirror for deflection towards an image plane, the light source being controller according to pixels read-out by an image processor from a buffer, a gaze tracker detecting a user's region of interest, ROI, within the image plane, and a controller modulating one of the excitation signals by a modulation signal which is dependent on the ROI such that the number of passes of the light beam per unit area is higher in the ROI than in a region outside thereof, wherein the number of pixels read-out per unit area by the image processor is higher in the ROI than in a region outside of the ROI.
