  • Patent number: 8155903
Abstract: A method of measuring a capacitance, wherein a voltage across the capacitance is supplied to an input of an evaluation circuit that is designed so that it can detect input voltages with a predetermined degree of precision so long as these voltages are in a measurement interval, includes charging the capacitance to a predetermined starting voltage which exceeds a multiple of an upper limit of the measurement interval. The capacitance across a predetermined resistance is discharged for a predetermined time period. The voltage across the capacitance reaches a final voltage value which is dependent upon the amount of the capacitance. The resistance and the time interval are so chosen that the final voltage value lies in the measurement interval. The final voltage value is detected by the evaluation circuit and the capacitance is determined from the final voltage value. A circuit arrangement for measurement of a capacitance of a capacitor is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7582984
Abstract: An electronic steering lock includes a power supply control unit and a locking assembly. The power supply control unit provides a supply voltage for locking the assembly via a ground supply line and a voltage supply line. The locking assembly is only supplied with a supply voltage and ground when a voltage with respect to ground is present on an ignition supply line, which is indicative of the ignition being switched off. The locking assembly includes a locking motor supplied with voltage and ground, whereby the ground supply of the locking motor is provided via a ground supply switching device. The locking assembly further includes a control circuit which controls the ground supply switching device. The control circuit produces a control signal which opens the ground supply switching device when the voltage on the additional input connection is indicative of the ignition being switched on.

  • Publication number: 20070227203
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for actuating an electrical or mechanical closure mechanism on a vehicle door and/or shutter, involving the use of a sensor (40) which responds to nearness or touch. For the device to identify unequivocally whether the sensor control (40) is actually performed by a human hand or inadvertently by an object, an auxiliary sensor (50) which, in the form of a detection element has a piezoelectric element (51), is arranged at the main sensor (40) contact zone. At least the auxiliary sensor (50) is covered with a flexible wall (28) which, upon contact, exerts a pressure on the piezoelectric element (51) and forms a common actuating location (28). When said actuating zone is contacted, the main sensor and the auxiliary sensor (40, 50) emit separate signals which however are evaluated in the same way (42). When the result of the evaluation is positive, an output signal is emitted, said signal shifting the lock to its locking position.
