  • Patent number: 4692563
Abstract: An electrical cable gland, generally of the type comprising two parts having a tubular configuration and interengaged by means of screw-threads is provided with an elastomeric tubular sealing sleeve, sealing onto a smooth outer surface of one part and engaging an end face of a second part so as to extend across and seal the entrance and outer surfaces of the screw-threads. The cable gland preferably has an internal armor clamp associated with electrically conductive metal inner parts and has its entire operative outer surface made of an electrically insulating and/or corrosion resistant material. The cable gland also preferably has an inner and an outer seal of the compression type.

  • Patent number: 4629825
Abstract: A cable gland having two parts interconnected by a screw thread through which moisture may conceivably enter is provided. The screw threaded connection is between two parts of the cable gland and a skirt is sealed to the one part on one side of the outer end of the screw threads and sealingly engages a circular sealing surface on the cable gland part on the other side of the outer end of the screw threads. The skirt may be flexible and resilient itself or may be rigid with a sealing ring co-operating between it and the circular surface.

  • Patent number: 4608454
Abstract: An electrical cable gland is provided which can be effectively clamped to metal strip types of armouring of an armoured electrical cable to effectively resist tension applied to such cable. The electrical cable gland includes at least two, and preferably three gripping dogs movable inwardly towards each other to effectively grip such metal strip armouring preferably between the dogs and on inner supporting sleeve forming part of the gland. Movement of the dogs can be by co-operating tapered surfaces on the dogs and body of the gland with the surfaces being axially movable relative to each other or by radially extending screw threaded fasteners passing through the wall of the body. An inwardly deformable, electrically conductive contact ring can be included, where required for making electrical contact with a lead or other conductive sheath.

  • Patent number: 4376873
Abstract: A flame-proof cable gland for use with an unarmored electrical cable having a sheath providing a tensile strength and wherein a flame-proofing seal and a clamping ring are provided for co-operation with the outer surface of an electrical cable passing therethrough. The hardnesses of the flame-proofing seal and the clamping ring are selected so that, upon axial compression of both of them to cause them to bulge into contact with the outer sheath of an electrical cable, the flame-proofing seal is rendered operative first followed by the clamping ring.
