  • Patent number: 6431759
Abstract: A split bearing arrangement in a machine housing, particularly a crankshaft journal bearing for piston machines. The split bearing arrangement including a bearing block and a bearing cover that are made of materials of different hardnesses. In order to provide a material anchoring between the bearing cover and the bearing block that can be subjected to high loads and is cost-effective to produce, the bearing arrangement provides the bearing cover, which is made of an iron material, with cutting-edge like projections protruding above its clamping faces and, furthermore, provides grooves in the corresponding clamping faces of the bearing cover and the bearing block. These grooves in an initial mounting of the bearing cover with the required force serve to receive the material of the bearing block that is displaced in the pressing-in process when the projections are pressed into the opposite clamping faces of the bearing block, which is made of a light metal.

  • Patent number: 6135081
Abstract: An engine power section for piston engines, particularly V-engines, having a power unit block made of an iron material arranged in a casing of light metal. In order to achieve a stiff weight-reducing power unit block, a flange plate used for limiting the crank space as well as for the connection with the casing is arranged offset relative to a cylinder from its lower end toward its upper end with its front side surface center of gravity at a distance on this side of the bearing center plane of a crankshaft bearing, which corresponds at least to a largest possible distance of the surface center of gravity of a reinforcing profile of a bearing frame on the other side of the bearing center plane. The crankshaft bearings are connected with the flange plate by way of struts.

  • Patent number: 5716145
Abstract: For a process for fracture separating the bearing cover of a multi-part bearing arrangement, particularly in crankcases of internal-combustion engines, by means of a half-mandrel in a bearing bore partially bounded by the bearing cover, for separating integrally constructed fastening flanges of the bearing cover from the remaining part of the bearing arrangement, it is suggested for producing fracture separating surfaces in planes sloping with respect to one another that the pairs of corresponding fracture separating surfaces of the bearing cover and the remaining part of the bearing arrangement are produced in separating areas which together enclose an obtuse angle (.alpha.) having a case-side vertex by at least one half-mandrel whose curvature radius, as a function of the respective obtuse angle (.alpha.), is selected to be by 0.5% to 5% smaller than the constant radius of the bore receiving the half-mandrel.
